Looking for some help

I have a 1995 formula, and recently I notice a sound coming from the rear left wheel making a sound to the tune of "thump thump thump" the rate of the thump increasing with speed. I have ruled out just about everything except for a wheel bearing. I understand you need a special tool to replace them, so I was wondering if someone would be interested in doing the job.

Also my suspension has probably been dead for 100K miles already, I'd like to do that too depending on what suspension installation costs run.

I just took my car to a "shop" and had a poor experience. I said to put in the 160 thermo, they ignored me and put in 180. They also replaced my opti with a used one to save money but I asked for new. Not to mention the reason they had to replace the opti was because their mechanic sprayed down my opti with a hose to clean it So the ruined my opti and put in a used one, scary thing is the first opti they put in didn't even work. Shady......

So I'll pay cash for suspension installation, and to fix the horrid sound in the back of my car.

I can take PMs or diemos_isa@yahoo.com is my e-mail address.

Thanks again.

Re: Looking for some help

The thumping could be, and likely is, the exhaust bracket on one side of your car being unlatched. Try taking a broom and jiggling both sides of your dual exhaust and see if one side jiggles--niether side should.

As for doing the work, I sure as heck can't. We always take our cars to Frank Parra Chevrolet in Irving to get work done since they specialize in Corvettes (and Camaros to a degree). I'd recommend taking your car there if you live in the Dallas area. However, if it ends up just being the exhaust bracket thing, take it to Meineke/Meinke/Mienke whatever and they will probably relatch the bracket for free.

Re: Looking for some help

No the thumping sound happens as the wheel turns and my exhaust is firm as (insert incredibly firm reference here) so that is definitely not the problem. I mean its very obvious something is broken in there.

BTW I live in San Antonio.

could be the wheel bearing or something in the suspension. I had that same problem but since my car is on jackstands i dont know if it was fixed or not. Once i fixed the bearing i broke the clutch

Re: Looking for some help

I really can't diagnose it any more as my "wrench turning" ability is limited, I was surprised I was able to get my car put back together after I replaced my intake manifold gasket.
