Post Just moved to texas, question about the MVD?

Someone told me today that you have to get your car registered first before you can go and get a DL ? Is this true? If so then that means I need to get TX insurance first also?

Could someone clear this up for me? I live in Plano if it makes a differance.

you are required to change DL/Auto Registration within 30 days of moving. you can change your DL before you register your car.

What happens if I don't register my car within 30 days? (I ask cause money is kind of tight for me right now)

I can get a DL first, then later register my car for sure ?

wait almost the full 30 days to renew your DL. then you should be able to say you just moved in, got your new DL and will be working on the vehicle registration within the next week or so.

it is kind of hard to get an exact date when stopping someone who just moved here from out of state. you will probably get a warning, but don't say you've lived here for any longer than the 30 days.

and yes, you can get your DL now. it will cost you around $30 or so and the vehicle registration is usually between $50 and $70. your out of state inspection will suffice until it expires. texas will recognize it as being valid until then.
