Jobs In Bryan/College Station?
Jobs In Bryan/College Station?
I'm looking to relocate to Bryan/College Station soon, I'll be attending Blinn this fall. Anyone have some suggestions of places I should apply to? Need to make somewhat decent money to cover rent, insurance, blah blah blah. Thanks for the help.
Re: Jobs In Bryan/College Station?
It's a big college town, so there will be alot of competition for good jobs. Anything with the university will be either low paying, or a bureaucratic nightmare to get into.
That said, there's plenty of everything there. So much has sprung up there lately that I don't even know about. Someone's bound to need people. If you have waited tables before, you'll probably make out well at a restaurant. Lots of bars too. There are tons of apartment complexes if you have any general maintenance skills. If you wanted everyone to hate you, you could work for PTTS on campus at A&M as a meter maid.
Good Luck.

The meter maids are never students that I can recall, and the other university jobs I spoke of would be more along the lines of mowing grass, etc. Department aides and office assistants are almost always students, which you may be able to get at Blinn.

I was looking for a job at one point. It’s super hard to find one around here. Get all your applications in by August where ever you decide to work. If you tell them you can work mornings it helps too because most kids have class then.
Other than that, Welcome to Aggieland!

You cannot even begin to understand how excited I am to be moving out there. I have wanted to be there for like a year and a half. I'm finally putting my mind to it and getting the hell out of Houston and my parents house. The only way it could be better was if I was going to A&M. Hopefully that happens in 2-3 years.
Re: Jobs In Bryan/College Station?
What's worked for me has either been experience (I'm working at a golf course right now and I worked at one back home) or transfering in from another store somewhere else. I came from a Circuit City in Plano and transfered down here and was first in line for a job. If you have time still in Houston to find a job that you could transfer that might be your best bet.
Other than that I'd do what Stefan said, get your apps in ASAP! Best bet is before the end of summer.

Do you have to have experience to work at the dealerships? I mean I know a decent amount about vehicles and all that, but I'm no genius. It would be cool to work in the parts department, considering the hours that they have.

They send you to a class to get your CDL, and only need to be 18. You can find it on A&M's website, http://www.tamu.edu under the transit link. Also, parts stores always hire, and if you work at the NAPA in CS, they always have hot chicks as the delivery drivers.

The new A&M Traditions Club. It's out off Villa Maria almost to 47. Jack Nicklaus designed, really freakin nice. It's where the golf teams practice/play now. I really like working there, if only I had more time to actually get to play some!

Are you guys hiring in any positions? I worked at Mira Vista country club in fort worth for like 4 years so I have plenty of experience, I just haven't found a good course around here to apply at.
