anyone know where i can "aquire" an inspection sticker for my old z28. it has no emissions crap and no cats so getting one legally is out of the question. i am located in the dallas/ fort worth tx area. any shops around that will give me one for the right price?

 

Not anymore dude. That's all tracked in a central computer now for the smog-test counties.

Your best (and only) bet is gonna be to go to a non-smog county and try to get them to give you a sticker. The more "redneck" the better. Come with cash.

I suggest putting all the smog equip. back on the car, because you also won't be able to register the car without a current smog-check in the computer. Sticker or not, if it's not in the state and county's system, you're in trouble.

I just bought this '95 Z28 recently, and in order to register it in Harris County (Houston), I had to get the smog inspection -- EVEN THOUGH IT ALREADY HAD A VALID INSPECTION. It didn't have the smog check in the computer, so thusly, I had to have it done or I couldn't even transfer my title.

So... you won't even be able to SELL that car in a smog-check county without a smog-check on file.

Heres the best bet for you. Either drive it down the the Valley( Brownsville area) or just go to the south side in Ft. Worth. Drive around and look for places that you would not take your girlfriens/wife to. The dirtier the better. Just pick up an you Spanish before you do. I have never had a car checked yet by going by these rules.

 

one of my best friends is a wetback, lol, anyways ill get him and we will cruise south dallas and other slum areas for run down shops. do you think 50 bucks is enough to get one? as far as computer registry goes if i dont want to transfer the title or sell it, i dont have to be in the computer right? anyways i guess 100 should be enough to hook another car up to the machine and use its readings for my car just in case..
