HPD Passes Taser Gun Proposal
Stun Guns To Be In Officer Hands By January 2005
HOUSTON -- The city council passed a proposal Wednesday that would put tasers in the hands of Houston police officers.
According to the Houston Police Department, 3,700 tasers -- at a coast of $4.68 million -- will be purchased and will be put into use by January 2005.
HPD Chief Harold Hurtt has been pushing to get the stun guns in officer's hands since he was named to the position in March.
From my understanding, Houston is short officers...Wouldnt it be better to hire more officers, than buying toys??????
