Talking Hot Dayum !! New Best Time for me last night !!

Got to HRP last night right at 5:05 or so, & was able to tech in and get on the track pronto.

Lots of good burnouts before me equalled traction action !

First run - lauching at idle = 12.917 @ 107.32 !

O.K. - that beats my prior best - hot lap it, and this time launch @ 1K.

12.809 @ 106.95 !!

Hmm - let's tempt fate.

3rd time - spool up to 1500 RPM ( when I did that, I could feel the car trying to pull, which I thought was weird as I have a 2800 stall. I would have thought I could have gone as high as 2K - ?)

At any rate, 3rd run nets a 12.786 @ 107.01 !

Of course, the way the mid 11 second H & C SS besides me tore me up, you would never know that I ran under a 14 !!!

After that, someone blew a lower radiator hose, and they spent an hour cleaning the track.

The magic ws gone - I could do no better than slipping & sliding to the mid 13's.

Ah, well - had a good time while things lasted !

Plus, saw a few people from here & LS1Tech.Com, so it was a good visit.

Who else from here went ?

Later !

Britt

My friend was out there with his pewter WS6. He broke his drive shaft, you probably saw it.

Did he do any other damage ?

I also wonder what the tow from Baytown to (I assume) Houston costs !

Best of luck to him.

Actually he had to tow it down to Galveston, but it only turned out to be $165. He was expecting it to break at somepoint, it was the weak link of his drivetrain.

Actually, my thoughts were towards an LS6 intake.

In theory, no possible PCM problems as might occur w/ a cam.

Plus, my '99 has the header styled manifolds anyway.

And, the infamous low coolant sensor ...

Bastages !!

And, always remember that valuable lesson learned during the wait:

No BEER in the staging area !! Get your azz back behind the fence !!

That guy was a tool ...

I told U afterwards: "Good thing he didn't see us shooting up !"

"header style" manifolds?? Who told you that? the manifolds that come on these cars are junk and very restrictive man...trust me, I have done many header swaps and seen the results aswell as on my car and the gains my friends have gotten from their longtube installs.....

the ls1 intake is fine for now...unless you are gonna run heads or a cam don't step up to an ls6 intake...on H/C cars I see at MTI are roughly a 10hp gain....so I imagine it is prob alot less on a stock motored car....I know alot better ways to spend $400 bucks on a stock motored car without seting off PCM codes

The 98's & '99's got the tubular SS header style manifolds.

'00 & up get the cast iron logs.

Which is actually more effecient = ??

Plus, my Borla was welded on to prevent rattles/leaks, so there would be more to a header install than just bolting things up.

What ideas do you have for the $400.00 range ?

Thanks !

Britt

for $400 bucks on a stock motor car I would try a set of Hooker longtubes.....that weld can easily be cut and clamped to a new y pipe until you can get a shop to reweld the spot...

could try to invest in some nice drag radials to help with the traction issue...or you could use the money to buy some Eibach prodrag springs with the airbag to help reduce those 60ft's and net a quicker ET.....

just throwing some ideas out there for ya!

ps. another reason I think ls6 intakes aren't mandatory for example would be Joseys ls1 formula over at ls1tech.com, with H/C and an LS1 INTAKE he still put down 420+ rwhp and ran a low low 11 second ET.....again, just leave that mod(ls6 intake) for when you go into the motor
