HELP, car starting problem
Heres the deal.
The new stroker was giving the old starter problems. Every once and while it would just go CLICK but the starter would not turn. I bought a new starter today from NAPA. Now the CLICK problem is happening more often. After a few attempts the car eventually starts. I have a brand new battery in the car, even went and had it tested this afternoon. They tested it and it was fine. I even had them charge it. The alternator is also brand new. You can definately hear the selinoid go CLICK but it does not start. I am looking for any suggestions.
BTW, checked all the grounds, cleaned up the connections on them. I also made sure the connections on the battery were good and the connections on the starter were good.
WTF???????

I have made sure it was the selinoid that was making the click. You can hear a relay by the glove compartment click also. Maybe I have two bad starters???????? I dont know.

Check and see what your voltage is dropping to under starting - your battery may be having a hard time providing enough amperage to start the car.
Mine did the same thing for awhile, and though it got a little better still had problems when I swapped starters. One time when I had a battery charger hooked up and set on engine start I fired up the car and it was just like an on-off switch - no clicking, cranking, etc. - so I re-ran a new 2 guage wire to the starter (welding cable), and switched to a new, bigger battery. Problem solved.

Two bad starters is definately possible. Not everything you buy from NAPA is the best, not that they're bad or anything, but I've seen 4 alternators in two weeks be bad from them(on the same car, but there wasn't anything else wrong with it).
If you can't figure out what's wrong, send it over to my dad's place, Richardson Generator & Starter, they've done alternators and starters for around 22 yrs now. If it is a starter problem they should be able to fix it. It's on Beltline and Greenville, in front of the Police 911 Center (big red canopy out front). If you're gonna take it over there, let me know and I'll tell and show him this.
Good luck,
Kyle
