Guys, is this cam any good - 224/230 on a 114
I'm interested in buying a Extreme Energy Grind 224/230 581/592 on a 114 LSA cam from a fellow member. I drive a 99 A4 Z-28 and plan on using this cam as a replacement for my LS6 cam. Now, the current owner says that he ran this in his A4 untuned and it caused no problems and he claims his dyno was 350 untuned with this cam, a lid, and some gutted cats. I expect with my set-up to get more power from this cam. I plan on getting this thing tuned around December but until then, it has to run untuned which concerns me. Anyone with any experience with this cam? What do you all think?
Thanks in advance,
Sam
BTW, the owner has a 02 SS. My mods include True Duals, Hooker LT's, ported TB and an airlid(not counting the LS6 cam, of course).
Thanks in advance,

I also forgot to ask whether this cam will be worth the additional expense over the LS6 in the long run? Will it pull atleast as much power as the LS6 cam while being untuned or should I just stick with the LS6 cam? I do plan on getting back atleast $200 for my LS6 which lessens the blow to some extent.
Thanks again,
Sam

I've seen people put down up to 385 RWHP with the 02 LS6 cam with no tuning through a 6 speed. That cam would most likley require tuning since you have an A4.
I have a 228/234 .608/.598 cam in right now in my 98 Z A3 (th350) and the thing ran so rich at idle it fouled the plugs out every 2-3 days on the stock program. HTH

I have a the exact cam with the exception of the lift numbers...mines a baby at .545. I drive an M6, and had a little problem with idle. As you probably know, the M6's idle higher than the A4s, so you might want to consider that. Drilling out your Throttle Body might get you by, but if it's a daily driver I'd look into tuning. My car ran rich as hell with this cam until I had it dyno tuned. Sounds awesome at idle though

Man COME to RPM Saturday the 16th and see this car dyno. A few things have changes since that dyno. I have a new front end with a totally different air intake. On top of that the Manifold is an LS1 manifold now instead of the LS6. You will see that it is untuned and that it doesnt die on you. I have a stock converter too. Just come and see it.
