Post Got a ticket for no front plate, what should I do?

Just recieved a ticket for no front plate in Round Rock, from the same guy that gave me a warning a few months ago in my dad's car. I know he's just doing his job but damn that's picky. Any ways i really can't afford the ticket right now or the dam brackets to put them on the front of my 99 SS.Plus I really don't want to drill holes in my car, what can i do to get the tickets dismissed or the fine dropped?

So from what I gather, you were warned, ignored it and got a ticket. My dad once told me not to handle snakes because they bite. I have yet to get bitten.

So enough of that and heres to some real help. If you have more time than money this is an option. Schedule your court date. 1or 2 days before, reschedule. 1-2 days before the rescheduled date, reschedule again. (keep in mind, there is a limit to rescheduling) The logic in all this is to frustrate the issuing police officer to not show up. If he/she is not there your ticket gets dismissed. No lawyer no defensive driving and minimal court fees if any.

I hope this was helpful, if you really want my opinion (more than whats in the first paragraph) do a search for my name and youll see my CONSISTENT advice on this topic. If you choose to break a law, you choose to get the ticket.

my car has the crappy plate on front.. my 2 cents.

Is that legal? or will they still have an excuse to pull me over? And I still have to find a way to get out of the fine too.

I have my shoved in between the windshield and the dash as well. Haven't gotten hassled for it yet. Many guys around here do the same, and not just in F-Bodies.

Just wedge it. I have never heard of a problem doing that. Unless this cop just hates you...try offering him a donut next time.

I'm gonna put it on the windshield. I just think that this law is so gay. Thanks for all the help. Also if ya know any other ways to get the fine reduced or dropped let me know.

it's illegal to put it on the dash.

be careful with the rescheduling thing. the cop won't get frustrated at all because he won't actually have to attend court until you show up, and that's only if you contest it. some courts won't allow a reschedule unless it's a documented bona fide emergency. and even then, they can still issue a warrant for your arrest if you don't show up.

just get some wire or something and rig it to stay up until you can afford the bracket. as far as the ticket goes, just call the court and take care of it.

I got that ticket plus no light on the rear liscense plate. I just ignored it and they never pursued it even 2 years later. I dont think they will put a warrant out just for a non-moving violation.

if you think you may have warrants, call the driver license office in austin and give them your DL number and they can tell you.

I don't really want to find out if they will issue a warrant or not, I'm just gonna take care of it.

It is about time for Texas to stop requiring a front tag. If the Law pulls you over they can see the rear tag anyway. I want to take mine off the front but do not want to give them a reason to pull me over. Half the number of plates to stamp out and paint for us would save tax dollars.

Now its my turn to bitch. First, run a search, I've went through a GREAT deal of detail on how I PERSONALLY got out of a no license plate ticket.

All I'm gonna tell you is that the Chief of traffic police here in SAN ANTONIO, said that the dash/windshield method is illegal, end of story. I see people get away with it all the time, but after getting pulled over TWICE in the SAME day, I don't take any chances. When i went to court, I thought about fighting this law, citing that by drilling holes in the bumper, the value of the car would go down, because if someone in the North (where alot of states don't need a plate) wanted to buy my car, I wouldn't get as much for it because I damaged the front bumper. I changed the stock appearance of the vehicle.
