GMMG or true duals

I'm not an avid track-goer, yet I am still building up to a 400rwhp daily driver. I love cruising around with the tops off and having a loud/good sounding exhaust...something that turns heads...

My current set-up is as follows:
1.6 rockers
TPiS long tubes
3" header-back piping
3" cutout following where the cat USED to be
series 80 Flowmaster

I've heard many dual set-ups that sounded about as loud as my current set-up is. I've also heard the GMMG set-up and absolutely love the sound and tone.

If you had to choose, which would you swing with? I figure I can see the most gains with a true dual set-up, yet on the other hand the decrease in hp/tq I'd see by going with the GMMG can be made up somewhere else.

The two previous people are wrong.

True duals all the way. Send a PM to 6Speed. He has a CC306'd car with true duals... it sounds amazing. He can send you a clip.

No, you are wrong

I had true duals on my T/A, and while it does sound great screaming down the track, it gets old VERY FAST when you have to drive it around town every day. One of my best buddies in Austin didn't think it was so bad and stuck a true dual setup on his daily driven Camaro - I think he ran it for a month or two before replacing it with a hooker catback.

It will literally make your ears ache. These were both systems that dumped before the axle... I'm sure if they were routed up over the axle and out the back it wouldn't be near as bad.

I say go with the GMMG.
I have 3" True duals with no cats and dynomax bullet mufflers and it is dumped before the rear axle. It does sound good. But it is my daily car, and it does get annoying fast. And if you do highway trave alot...be prepared.... they really **** you off on the highway on LONG trips...IMO

Or if you want the sound of a GMMG at half the cost, by a loudmouth ($300), cut off the resonator and weld a chambered mufller ($60) in it's place. Just a cheaper alternative if you want that sound.

heh why buy a complete loudmouth when you can just fab one in the same manner...plus there arent any chambered mufflers that sound like the ones that GMMG uses unfortunately...

come down and hear my car doug. i have 2 3/4 true duals out the back with 3in bullits and 4in tips. sounds like a race car, with a good smooth tone. a little pop at 2000rpm on normal acceleration. i mean like 3 pop pop pop, then smoothes out to a good muscle sound( the poop is most likely the cam doing its thing as 2-2500 is where the trasition from bumpity bump to surge to smooth is. and as far as loud, you will set off car alarms idleing down james st. me and vince did fri night. but inside the car is a good low tone that is easy to talk over, not annoying at all. now wot is a differant animal. it like armageddon the apocolyps migiddo and the 2nd comming all rolled into i street car.

i also think that with some le heads and my cam, or one of his joe o cams ~400hp is not a problem.

go true dual with GMMG style chambered mufflers. Best of both worlds.

Summit sells them, they look like the same as the GMMG mufflers.
