emissions and nasty cams (dallas area)

Hey I go to car meets every now and then and see people with hard loping cams etc and an inspection sticker just wondering how its done other than paying someone off. I have OBD1 maybe thats the problem but if there is a way to pass like unplug an injector clip or something. I am about to have to make an engine descision and ****ing hate the fact that I am limited to what I can do to my own damn car because of that.

Either take it to a smaller town where they don't use smog testing equipment or ask around where they got there sticker at. There are ways around it.

Yup I know ways around it i just dont consider it a reliable thing to rely on every year to drive something I just put 4 grand into making not pass...although its an option. I live in plano, would I be able to drive to bonham or something like that and just get it inspected or does it, as I always thought, have to be tested in the county you claim residency?

I live in Bastrop, but get inspected in Fayette. Cause I work there, and I don't get off in time to make it back to Bastrop.

AWESOME! I assume those are in different countys, wow thats way easy. I never thought you could just drive an hour to somewhere that only does a safetly inspection then drive back. Almost sounds illegal...lol

I dont think you can just drive to a different county. It is kinda like cheating on taxes as far as i know. Alot of times it doesnt get caught, but i dont think you can do it without a reason. Im gonna get inspected somewhere in Austin because i go to school here, but in houston i would have to pass a sniffer.

Yes in Houston you would have to pass a sniffer, again that's why you drive somewhere else.

Do they really ask where you are from? Would they really know and is it the same sticker?

no they won't, and yes they are all the same except for the different months they say. I think there different colors for different months issued, but that don't matter.

Re: emissions and nasty cams (dallas area)

I dont see why people having trouble with emissions just dont drive a ways out and get inspected rather than dump lots of money on fixing emissions bs... Ive seen a lot do that anyways maybe some do but I never see em. Well Ill give it a try its coming up in half a year lol.

Re: emissions and nasty cams (dallas area)

it all depends on where you live. dallas, houston or harris county are non atainment areas. which means that they failed to meet the enviromental standards for the area. and if your adress is in that area then no you cant get inspected in another area, unless they do the emmissions test, but unless your in a non attainment area the most likly wont have the emmisions equipment. and i do beleive the stickers are a little differant, it may just be the colors, which are changing constantly.

but if you go and they dont look then you can get it done somewhere else, but it not really supposed to happen.
