Cost of Drag racing ticket?

Just wondering if anyone knew what the cost of a street racing in texas was, or if it varies by the county. I am in College station, so if anyone knows how much these cost please let me know. Thanks.

My guess is it depends on the county. However, here in San Antonio, its now a FELONY.

I don't know how familiar you are with regards to the law, but felonies constitute AUTOMATIC JAIL TIME. Additionally, I believe your car is impounded for up to 1 month.

Not really worth it IMHO. The police have one upped the ricers in every way. Marked cars, uncover cars, sting operations on known racer gatherings. Don't get me wrong, PLENTY of people get away with it, but you won't catch me trying it.

On your next job application that question that asks are you a convicted felon?

You'll respond yes. And then, the interviewer will look at you as if you were a drug dealer, armed robber, attempted murderer, etc.

Felons are the ones who get like 10 years or more in prison. Street Racers will probably get like a few days or maybe a week, but you get the point.

I was already caught. I don't think that it is a felony, because they gave me the ticket, and told me to go home. I found out that here it costs $190 and is not a felony. I hear some people say that you can't take defensive driving for it, but since it is just another ticket here, I don't see why I wouldn't be able to. If you have any more info, please let me know. Also, I don't plan on street racing for a while. It is fun, but it sure isn't worth it when you get caught.

Feeder road between 2818, and SW parkway. I raced one of Stephen Faraday's friends with a cam (and I think heads) LS1 and won. I stuck, and the other guy went completely sideways. By the time that he caught traction I had about 10 lengths, and he couldn't catch up. The cop said that he was doing 115 and we were leaving him bad. I wasn't even spraying on him either.
I sure do hope that I can take defensive driving for this one. Do you know anything about that ed? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I guess that's another reason you've been so quiet lately.

well, as you already know, alot has happened in a year. 5 ricers have claimed the lives of almost 15 people, others injure themselves all the time. Last I heard, D.A. Susan Reed has declared street racing a felony. The ticket, if you're lucky enough to get one is $1,000-$2,000 now, it really sucks, I love the adrenaline rush of the street.

I'm not a lawyer, but I dont think the District Attorney can make the laws, just prrosecute them. She's also not a Queen and cant just declare a law. I did read that she prosecuted some street racers with a felony because they struck and killed some people while they were streetracing. Big Difference.

Contest of Speed

"Contest of Speed" ticket here in Austin is $245, or it was 1 1/2 years ago. No, you cannot take defensive driving for it, and your insurance company will more than likely drop you as soon as they find out, so don't make any claims.
