Conversions Extra in Houston TX.

This is my warning to all members and visitors, Never go there. Heres why,
Yesterday I went to them and talked to the head guy "Phil" about installing my cut outs, and a driveshaft loop. He charged me $100, and told me to come back tommarow morning. So I came back today They started work without asking me where I wanted the cut outs, and just put them right before the muffler. I wanted them Right after the header, a good 5-6 foot difference, Which also has the exhaust going through the X-pipe. But they did one, then lowered the car again. I told them about the other cut out for the other side and they acted surprised, so they installed that one. Looked at my driveshaft loop, told me it wouldn't fit because the exhaust was in the way. Didn't refund me any of my money, and sent me on my way.

So I paid 100 bucks for a 20 buck job, to be done in a place I didn't want it done.

My brother was also in with his 97 Z28. This place installed his long tubes, which have a slip fit primary. Which leaks, we seafoamed the car and saw it leaking. HE took the car in to get it fixed, and not only did they tell him it wasn't the slip fit..which it usually ALWAYS is, he just gave him 2 header gaskets, said he didn't know which one would fit his car, patted him on the back and sent him on his way.

The head guy "phil" Is foreign and appearntly knows everything there is to know, even if it contrats with our knowledge, and you can't understand a word he says. Not that it would be any help, But we think he may be a little permifried also.

This is My warning, NEVER take your car there for Services.

I've never heard of this shop, but it seems like in both cases that they are not to blame.

YOU left your car with them to get cut-outs installed, they told you it would be done the next morning... if it mattered, why did you leave without telling them where you wanted them? This is 100% your mistake, as you should have told them where you wanted them before walking out the door. If you don't say anything, they are going to think you don't have a preferance and do it how they think it should be done. They can't read minds, bro.

If the headers are leaking at the slip fit, wouldn't that be a problem with the headers and not the installers? Did you buy the headers somewhere else, and give them to the shop to install? If you gave them the headers, be glad you got a few sets of gaskets out of it, because that's more than your due.

Whoa, I didn't leave my car their overnight. I just came back the next morning. I was waiting in the showroom when they just started without letting me know. The only reason I knew the started was because I herd the saw. Also If they bothered to read the instructions that came with the cut outs it would have told them where to put it, which was right behind the long tubes, and not right in front of the mufflers which is where you put it for a catback system. I went out there to see where they were installing them and asked if they could have put them behind the headers, They gave me some BS excuse about clearance..which is shady. I could have gotten them to fit by simply getting them to face the right direction.

Yup, Phil attempted to rob me and my credit card company.

We agreed on a price for some parts and he charged my card, and said
the parts would go out overnight shipping.

I didn't receive the parts and called back. Phil is NEVER available
after the initial sale, they have caller ID.

He didn't ship any parts to me and it was now weeks overdue.
I get my credit card statement and I see 2 charges on it.
And the amount was increased from the first charge. He double
charged my card AND bumped up the price for the second charge.

I received the parts about a week later and called for the last
time and mentioned that I would be disputing the charges through
my credit card company and then proceeded to start the process
for disputing the charges.

Both charges were disputed and reversed.

I firmly believe that Phil at Conversion X-tra's is a CROOK who
managed to dodge every single call I made to his shop, but he
couldn't dodge the reversed
charges

I misunderstood and thought you left it there for them to work on it... somewhat of an ambiguous post.

Anyway, I got tired of being jerked around by exhaust/fabrication shops myself, and bought a good welder about 7 years ago... it's paid for itself MANY times over.

To bring this a step further...

I was tired of being jerked around by everybody, so I got myself a couple manuals and never looked back.

I agree about the original post - I thought he said he left the car there overnight too..

Even in my 'beater' 91... when I have any work done and they pull it in the bay - I'm right there all over it. I watch everything. Screw them and their sign about customers in the shop. If they ever told me anything, I'd tell them I'll leave the shop as soon as they take my car back down off the lift.
