I just wanted to see what you guys thought about this. Personally I think it's BS and an invasion of personal freedom. If someone wants to be a dumbass and not buckle up that should be their choice. I can understand laws against street racing, DWI's etc. because you're putting other people on the road in danger, but with this you're harming no one but yourself.
What do y'all think?

I buckle up anyways and make my family and friends do it when they ride with me
other people I could care less But I would rather keep the law.
By the way, People saying they would rather be thrown from their car are just dumbasses..

shouldn't the cost of 'healthcare' go down. Since you are fixing broken arms, legs, craniums, etc...IN BULK... it should get cheaper.
Of course the cost of healthcare INSURANCE would go up...but that's handled by our auto premium (up to a point) first.
Back to the original question: I dunno if it's an invasion of privacy. But it IS dumb that we repealed the helmet law for motorcycles, and are now cracking down on the seatbelt law.

I think it's BS, too. It does seem dumb to repeal the helmet law, and then have this Click it or Ticket "campaign." Also in Dallas, they're having a redlight running "campaign." These acts are already against the law, so I think these are just ways to generate revenue... Just my opinion.
Seems dumb that my insurance premiums increase because dumbass dont have enough sense to wear a seatbelt. You get into an accident and you get ejected, your insurance pays your (expensive) medical bills and then raise's your rates or drops you as well as raise mine to pay for what yours cost them. We all know the insurance company is going to get their money back. If you dont want to wear a seatbelt, then sign a waiver stating they dont have to pay for your medical bills for bodily injury associated with not wearing a seat belt. Or carry more insurance like the dumbass's that ride motorcycles w/o helments.

Just after noon, 11 people were injured, one seriously, in a multivehicle accident on westbound Interstate 30 near Texas 360, police said.
The accident occurred when a Chevrolet pickup slammed into the back of a Ford Explorer that had slowed for traffic, officer Paul Skendrovic said.
Traffic in the area was slowed after the Texas 360 interchange was blocked because of the suicide threat, Skendrovic said.
The Explorer was shoved sideways and flipped over after striking a tractor-trailer, Skendrovic said. Another pickup trying to avoid the accident struck the Chevrolet pickup and then sideswiped another car, he said.
Items in the Explorer, including a blue stroller and red plastic football, were scattered across the westbound lanes of I-30. Witnesses at the scene said they could see the Explorer go airborne and flip several times from their rear-view mirrors.
"I heard several loud booms and looked in the rear-view and saw the car tumble," said Melissa Stanford, who was traveling ahead of the sport utility vehicle. "Several vehicles had to maneuver around the SUV to avoid causing more damage."
Stanford said she saw at least one of the smaller children lying on the pavement.
Four children and one adult in the Explorer were ejected onto the highway. The Explorer was carrying two adult sisters, their husbands and five children ranging in age from 1 to 10, police said. Only one car seat was found in the vehicle, Skendrovic said.
A 2-year-old boy who was ejected was taken by helicopter ambulance to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, Skendrovic said. Ten other people were taken by ambulance to Arlington Memorial Hospital, Cook Children's Medical Center in Fort Worth and Harris Methodist Fort Worth Hospital.

Click it or ticket vs no helmets is definitely a double standard. I think it should be personal choice, not a law. Yeah I think wearing a seat belt is a good idea but no, I dont like big brother telling me I have to. It was the insurance industry that lobbied government to pass the law. Insurance companies are ALL about the money. So don't be naive, its all about money not public health. The obvious double standard stated above is proof of that.
Just .02 from a healthcare worker
Just .02 from a healthcare worker
Yes, it should be a law. Morons that choose not to wear seatbelts cost millions/year in health costs and insurance rates. We ALL pay more because some bubba thinks "the man" is trying to bring him down by making him wear a seat belt. Yall need to grow up..
