Business Schools in Tx
Business Schools in Tx
After finishing up my 2 year stint at a local Community College here in South Texas i've decided to get a degree in a business field.
I know this board has a lot of college students/college Grads, so im looking for opinions on good Schools of business. Undergrad or Graduate, i'd like to keep my options open.
'Sell' me your school, or schools you recommend. Any help is appreciated, since I'm really just looking for a good starting point.

A&M has a very good business school... difficult to get in, hope you have good grades. I was gonna do business there until I decided to switch to engineering (still going to A&M though).
Of course I'm kinda biased... but really though A&M's business school is supposed to be really good.

TCU has a great business program, been listed in top 25 or 50 lists a few times. Not too difficult to get into if you can buck up the cash (~$20k/year) and are not a hardcore slacker. Small classes and mostly cool teachers are some positives, occasionally having to work in teams w/ lazy ****** here on parent's money and cost of tuition are some negatives.
I also hear good things about UT's bus. program, but also hear it is extremely difficult to get into.

Seriously. So far A&M seems to be most worth checking into. Any other opinions?
Re: Business Schools in Tx
I have two accounting degrees from A&M (bachelor's and master's) and have come out very well.
I actually switched from Engineering to Business after two years, and went through a bit of culture shock being immersed in fine females after the slim pickings over at Zachry.
What specific major are you interested in. Different schools have different strengths. A&M and UT have the most resources to work with, and therefore basically any major within the business colleges will be top notch or close to it. Other schools have specialties that they are known for, UH for one is supposed to have one of the best hotel and restaurant management programs in the country.

I think anyone that has gone to college and found a job after can agree with this:
It is completely up to you and how much effort you put in.
Wanna got to aTm, Texas, or Texas Tech and just get by? Wanna go to UH or UT Arlington and make straight A's?
Picking a college based on how "good" they are is a start. However, nothing will ever be given to you just because of the name on the degree. It might get you in the door, but in the end it comes down to you and your work ethic.
