Talking Budget 355 lt1 Q's

How much did you drop on a budget 355 build? I would like to start planning for a 355 with a monster hydro. cam, and home port heads, on a motor that can handle a 150 - 200 wet shot.
Plans are: Th350 4000-4500 stall, 355 with spray,
I have a 10 bolt with 4.10's, as well as a fuel system that will handle up to 1200 hp.
any info on the motor would be greatly appriciated.

Not sure you will get much response, as you have two totally incompatible statements. I don't think you CAN, do what you ask on a budget!!

Planning on building a motor with 3000 or less. If this is possible, post crankshaft, rods, pistions, that would not mind a little spray.
Thanks,

If your not planning on spinning the eng to high. I would just use the stock rods and crank with some good pistons such as Speed pro and some ARP bolts. If your looking for some thing that can handle a good amount of abuse but still cheap go with some Eagle or Scat crank and rods with some Speed pro pistons. Just remember you can only make as mutch power as your heads will let you. So put the $$$ in the heads.

just my thoughts

Yea, on a budget, just reuse the stock crank and rods. Have the crank polished, and rods resized with new arp bolts. Then top it off with some srp forged pistons. That wont cost too much. Also plan on spending good money at the machine shop. Good machine work isnt cheap. I would also recommend putting $$ in heads. Lloyd Elliot has some great packages, that are proven to make power. Dont port your heads yourself unless you really dont care what the results are.

Snake: I was being a little facetious, though I might decide to sell it shortly. However, I did to be what I consider a good balance between budget and strength.

Scat cast 3.75 crank
Scat 6.0 forged rods
Diamond pistons.

I bought the rods and crank off of Ebay for about ~320 bucks delivered. I bought the pistons from the builder for ~600. The rest is just finding a block and doing the machine work.

Yeah that kind of thing will make you consider an LSx swap.

Yeah guess what I just found out the engine builder didn't even clearance the stock valvecovers for the pro mags! I guess 4g's doesn't buy ya much these days.

No it dont. I have wayyy more than that into mine, and Im not done yet.

LS1 swap? Haha. Sure, stock shortblock vs stock shrotblock the LS1 is king. But a built LS1 will cost much more than a built LT1.

nicely put.. I hate ls1 motors almost as much as I hate Ls1 owners. Why do they have to be soooo cocky. They sure shut up when they get to see lt1 tail lights. Have I said too much. No need to flame.

Re: Budget 355 lt1 Q's

I show them LS1 owners LT1 taillights with my LS2 powered car.

A stock LS2 with longtubes, dual exhaust, and a 3200 stall will MOVE.
