Bolt-Ons Finally pay off. New Best at RCR tonight!!
Bolt-Ons Finally pay off. New Best at RCR tonight!!
1ST RUN:
60 FOOT: 1.94
1/8 MILE: 8.68
1/8 MPH: 78.96
1/4 MILE: 13.646
1/4 MPH: 99.25
This run was on the stock OBD2 Programming. And Nitto's were at 35 PSI.
2ND RUN:
60 FOOT: 1.81
1/8 MILE: 8.70
1/8 MPH: 77.51
1/4 MILE: 13.675
1/4 MPH: 100.15
This was with the OBD1 PCM using LT1 Edit. No tables were done just the basic programming. Car was bouncing off the rev limiter in each gear. Dropped Nitto's to 17 PSI.
3RD RUN:
60 FOOT: 1.80
1/8 MILE: 8.38
1/8 MPH: 81.18
1/4 MILE: 13.209
1/4 MPH: 102.43
Changed the rev limiter and adjusted RPM. NEW BEST BOLT-ON ! Also I should add driven by AHART383Z28. Must give props when props are due.
4TH RUN:
60 FOOT: 1.83
1/8 MILE: 8.41
1/8 MPH: 80.60
1/4 MILE: 13.264
1/4 MPH: 101.87
Did not change any programming. This time driven by myself.
All Bolt-Ons and not that many either. Race weight tonight was 3695 LBS. I even have the stock throttle body for now. I now there is much more to be had with this set-up. Next week-end at Dyno Day I will be able to get a tune on it and start playing with the MAF and Fuel Tables. I will be finding that 12.9 in no time!

Nathan: good run man
Well I got a new best gas mileage...
waste half a tank under 30mins!
my old mileage was...
waste half a tank in about half a week
Well back to the lab, and the drawing board

Im sure the car has more to give than what it is running. With a proper Dyno tune with the wideband and tuning the LT1 Edit im sure the car will run a lot faster.
Also need to practice on my launches. I would just get the RPM up to around 1200 and then flash the converter. I could also feel there was a little tuning issue to be had at high RPMS around 5800-6000. Im going to try and due a few different ways at it. Also need to drop another 100 pounds ( and a diet for me wont work for me, smartasses), knock another .1 off my 60 foot and get another 2 MPH on the top end. These are my goals for next time I go out. The track was hooking up GREAT last night since they are having that shoot out this week-end.
Looking for 12.8-12.9's next time out.
When this car is all done and said I want it running around a 12.4 with only Bolt-Ons. Just another .8 to go
Then when I get to that mark I will add a cam and be done with it. So not much longer and this car will be done and the next project starts. Looking for that 11.99 for the car
Next project to start Fall of 2003. Already started to save money for a Buick GNX.

I got put out the first round! I was running against Maudlin in his gorgeous Nova in the 11 sec True Street class. This is the same guy that beat me last time for the Win. Both of us hammered it off the line, feathered it on the track and coasted through the backhalf but.... he slowed down a tad bit more than me!!! I lost by a .029th of a second!!! Both of us actually broke out of the 11s but I was just a little faster than him apparently and so lost
.
Still had fun!! Didnt see any SA FBody folks though? Why the dyno sessions and money spent on mods if your not gonna use it? Just asking.

Oh I'll be out at the track very soon Jim. I also bought the 12 bolt and that will be going on as soon as I get the car back. I think most of us will be hitting the track a lot more often. It's just nice to see what kind of power the car is putting down. It's fun to see where you stack up against other f-bods and to see whether the mods actually made an imporvement, and how much of one for the car. I'll probably be headed out to Alamo next week once the dyno is done and I get the car back. But we'll have to wait and see on that one.
I know myself and AHART383Z28 go at least once a month. That will change on my part soon. I have been going to the dyno to check on my cars mods and now that I am where I want to be, its time to really start to tune this thing out. The TA is going on a diet here. I started at 3740 LBS and want to be around 3495 LBS with me in it. I took off 45 LBS from last time out and am down to 3695 LBS. Only 200 more pounds to go.
Im going to be spending probably close to 1 hour on the dyno next week getting the vechile tuned out. Need to work on the Fuel and Air ratios as well as the spark. Using the Wideband will benifit me very nice im hoping. And with the aid of Ryan Ahart I hope This car will get tuned real nice.
Hope to be in the 12's next time out at the track which will probably be the Wednesday after the dyno.

Where are you removing the weight from? My car isnt the same as yours exactly but I have to remove some too. My car is at 3710 with me in it and I too would like to remove about 300 lbs or so. That would put me knocking on the nine door NA in street trim.
Oh, I did wear the SA FBody shirt at COTT though!

Here are my thoughts:
I weighed in with a 1/2 tank a gas, no spare tire, no jack and no front sway bar at 3695 LBS. Gasoline weighs just a little over 6 pounds per gallon so next time I will only run with a half of a tank. I should be able to get rid of about 5 gallons=30LBS. I had been running Salad shooters on the rear but with my big 18" wheels up front. Im going to Weld Drag Lights with skinnies up front and Welds in the rear. By getting the weight of one wheel today and calculating what a weld weighs I should be able to lose another 34 LBS. Also with the Welds up front I should be able to lose a little weight up front to get my car at a better weight transfer. So now Im up to more or less 64LBS. This may sound funny but if my car is going on a diet so am I. My intentions are to lose 60LBS by the summer. I have already joined a gym and start my workouts tommorrow. So god granted I will be 60 Pounds lighter and so will my car! Now we are at 124 LBS. I will be removing my rear seats when racing. Also I am removing my front seats in favor of some drag light front seats. Given that I am getting rid of Leather bucket seat with Electric seats and Lumbar I beleive this and the rear seats should get me close to my goal of 200 LBS.
Also I will be relocating my battery to the spare tires spot to add to that better weight transfer. Im taking my car to a truckstop soon to weigh it on the cat scales to find out what Im dealing with. Of course I would love to see a 50/50 but we know these TA's are front heavy big time.
