Autocross courses near D/FW??
my dad is considering buying a Z06 to autocross around the DFW area but i am totally new to this subject as he is too. i want to know if there are any tracks around here that we could go and race just for the day.
SCCA only has about 1 event a month, 9-10 a year. But there are a bunch of clubs in DFW to autox.

Then there is Motorsport Ranch in Cresson, south of Fort Worth. Clubs that put on events there are:

I have autocrossed with SCCA, ER and Porsche club. They all put on a good event. SCCA only gives 4 runs, and the courses are sometimes tight. You can buy 2 extra runs at ER events (PAX runs), but they often have timing problems.
Porsche club put on a good event, with less people. Unfortunately most of their events are at Mineral Wells, and the surface sucks out there.
I haven't ran with the BMW club because all of their events at at Mineral Wells, and I refuse to go there again. They offer 8 runs, and the courses are generally higher speed than the other clubs. I wish they ran at TMS.
I have been to Motorsport Ranch with the BMW club and The Drivers Edge. Both put on a similar, great event. I think I prefer the BMW club of the 2, but they have their event in July when it is brutally hot!
If one is so inclined, you can autox or RR 3 weekends a month, 10+ months a year.
There is an SCCA autox at TMS Saturday, and an ER autox at TMS on Sunday. I will there Sunday for sure, and I might go Saturday.
