We are heading to Austin in a week or two for a week end get away (anniversary type thing). We usually go to San Antonio but we decided to check out Austin this time.

Wanted to see the bats fly out of underpass (where ever that is).

Gonna check out Casicnos el Caminos.

Gonna stay at the Hilton and check out 6th street.

Looking for some music venues that play rock rmusic. I know alot of different music fits into "rock" catagory but we are looking for music like Metallica, Pantera, etc. . . . . . . where would you guys go?

Gonna check out the Capital.

What else would you guys suggest?

6th street will provide you with more to do than you are expecting. The weekends there are beyond packed. There are FEW places that play rock. Rap is the dominate scene there because of all the college kids. Good luck. haha

If you are a fan of mexican food, definately check out chuy's. I went down to Austin over spring break, ate there, and have to say it was awesome.

 

My friends are playing in Austin on Thursday, the 18th.

Darwin's on 6th plays rock, I believe. At least they do at times.

There's a really cool place to go and chill and overlook a nice bridge at twilight/dark. Take a blanket and just relax. I'll explain directions if you're interested.

 

Every time I go there my friends and I end up at Dirty Dogs I believe its called. The live bands there play rock music. Nice place, not too packed like most of 6th street.
