Anyone in Texas (Austin or Dallas Area) w/ a child with Autism.
I am thinking of moving to Texas and Austin seems to be a nice place. I was wondering what there Autistic programs where like in the Round Rock and Austin School district. We may even consider moving to Plano because of the good things we've heard of their Special Need Classroom's.
I am moving so that I can buy my house cash with the equity I made on my home here in Cal. I want to take a few years off of work and look into working with my son. Eventually I want to start a business but that a few years away.
My son is priority one so I need to make sure he gets what he needs.
Thanks,
If you have friends in my situation please ask them email me.

Both my parents are administrators for Texas School districts, I'll give them a call when they get home tonight and see what they know about the Austin area special needs programs.

The good thing about Austin is that being the state capital, most of the state schools are here. We live right across the street from the Texas School for the Deaf, for example.
Also, Austin is a much nicer place than DFW :P

bowtieman - I tried to get ahold of my parents all evening, only to remember they are at their country house tonight. They both work about 30 miles away from home, so if it's a late night for them, they stay out there. They'll be back home in the morning and I'm going to be there in the afteroon, so I'll ask and get on their comp. and let you know what they know.

I talked to my professor today for a very short bit, he said that Texas in general has VERY poor special needs programs. He said virtually any state would have better programs than here.
He refered me to:

I know it's not much, but hope it somewhat helped. Good luck.
