My girlfriend wants to pay to let me race my car around the Texas Motor Speedway track next March for my birthday...has anyone else done this? Is it a lot of fun?

Thanks!

I just attended a Panoz Track Day last Friday, 10/24, at TMS in Ft. Worth. Learned alot and had a great time.

Word of advice, the technical inspection is more than just a quick one-over. They really check things out, which is a good thing, but be prepared. Flush your brake fluid, fix all leaks, and check your battery tray/tie-down.

I have never raced on the oval at TMS, but I think you will get more track time for less money running the the drivers edge at Motorsport Ranch. Most say that MSR is more fun than TMS also.

I was top sales in my department the first half of this year so my dealership sent me out to the Ride and Drive Experence at TMS.
I got to go 10 laps in detuned cars. They were making about 650 HP and limited at 150 MPH. It was an absolute blast. I was mad at myself because I wasted the first few laps getting used to it. My mind was telling me that the car was not susposed to be going that fast around a curve. It was an unbeliveable experence for me. I have to go back again sometime.

I'll second what Chuck said. The Driver's Edge is the group to run with and do it at Motorsports Ranch south of Ft. Worth.

I have done the infield course at TMS and while any track time is fun, It can't compare to Motorsport Ranch, Texas World Speedway in College Station, or Hallett in Tulsa, OK.

I do want to do the full road course at TMS, but was unable to attend the last Drivers Edge event there.

Cool...thanks for the feedback guys. The only reason I want to do it at TMS is because my girlfriend works in the towers for a company called 20/20 Cablevision and they get special discounts...
