anyone here know about building up a PC
I am assembling my own PC bought a couple of parts back in may and put it together but as always something was wrong with a few parts and had to get them exchanged. Well finally everything is in working order and I got windows XP installed but I am getting a whole bunch of errors when I start installing the video card. Saying something about it not being windows certified but the box says it it.
BTW this is the first computer i've built from scratch so i knew i would have a few problems but so many?
This is the current setup:
ATC cooler master midtower, ASUS P4C800 deluxe, Pentium 3.0ghz, 1 gig ddr 400mhz RAM, 120 gig seagate HD, geforce FX 5200 AGP, Antec true 430 watts, audigy 2
I don't have internet connection on that computer yet so I can't download stuff easily. Any ideas or suggestions?

Pedro check your BIOS and make sure plug and play is enabled. Also check to make sure your AGP settings in there are correct (should be run at 8X AGP) as well. You will also need to have Service Pack 1 for XP installed before the card will work properly.
I had the exact same problem that you are. The problem is kinda easy to fix. I said "Kinda"... Anyways, the FX 5200 software is what is causing the problem. It seems that there is some kind of issue with it and DVD-ROMs. I am assuming you are using a combo drive, since they are so cheap now. All you have to do is uninstall the DVD and reinstall. That should fix it. Worked for me.
Nice card but it can get booged down real quick. But then again it is 128meg for $99

the motherboard is jumperless it is all done in the bios, I've already updated the bios and made sure all the parameters are good. Need to check up on plugnplay though. I have a CD writer only wanted to get the combo ones but ran out of funds. I am gonna try to update the chipset and if that fails I don't know what else to do. this thing is giving me ulcers just trying to fix the damn thing. Next time I'll just call dell and order one premade
Pedro if you don't get it working give me a call and I'll help you out. I know that XP has to have service pack 1. That was from Nvidia's own website regarding that card. Let me know, or I can burn a copy of the software on cd and give it to you tomorrow along with the latest drivers.
