Post ??? for the 1/4mi. guys...

This may sound a little odd, but me and some guys from work are trying to get this figured out. These are going to be some rough figures, but I think they're pretty close? This was at one of the grudge sessions last summer/fall running against an LS1.

My time: 14.1@110 w/3.1-60'
His time: 13.5-7@105-7 w/2.2-60'

Even with that crappy driving, I got the win light by about a fender. How can this happen? Shouldn't I have a lower time, or him have a higher time?
I'm going to look for the slip tomorrow, but would still need some explanation. The guy was in the CFCC, and we talked after the run, but I don't remember exactly what times and mph he said. Real cool guy though, he said he thought he had the win when he pulled me out of the hole by two cars or so, but was shocked when I caught him so fast ...TIA

I think that you could have a slower time but it depends on reaction time. I am not 100% sure about this but could be wrong.

If he red lighted on the reaction then you automatically take the win.

You might want to work on that 60' time i think i could get 3.1 in reverse jk

did you hit the brake instead of the gas? assumming that you both stayed on the gas the whole way, your car trapped at 110 and his at 105, yours is faster, should be a quicker e.t. (should)

You would think I was in reverse or something! I'd assume that his reaction time was the same or close to mine, as he pulled really hard outta the hole. Also, I thought reaction time wasn't added into the E.T.?

This one is easy. He got you by a full second out of the hole, your 60' sucked, no offense, it looks like one of mine ET doesn't take into account reaction time (RT) the ET timer doesnt start until after you break the beam at the start line (Time from green light to beam breaking = RT, RT+ET=time from green to trap). That said, RT is where you beat him, simple math says his RT was about .7 sec slower than yours. Not to mention you have a way faster car. Trapping at 110, and snagging a 14.1 with a 3+ sec 60' clearly shows that your car is capable of high 12's if you get it to hook up. Long story short, he waxed you out of the hole, but his RT sucked worse than your 60', and you made up the rest of the gap on the last half of the track because you are sporting a few more ponies. - OR- he red lighted, but you said you got him by a fender through the trap, so that theory is bust...

You must have had excessive wheelspin, right?

OR you stalled the car, then had to turn it back on! j/k man, my 60's aren't anything to brag about...you can be on my team .

Wheelspin? That's it, but I'm not sure that completely explains how bad it was on that run!!! I don't know which would be more embarrassing, to completely stall the car, or spin as bad as I did? At least I know one thing, I won't be breaking my rearend launching like that?

Isn't the track fun ?

All those little variables come into play , you screw up the launch, and still get the win !!

Now, Me - I screw up the launch & don't win ...

Anyway, with a 110 trap speed I would think you would be looking @ mid 12's easy !

What are you doing picking on LS1's , anyway ?

Don't you know we are Unbeatable !
(Not w/ my driving, we ain't !!

Hey I have NO MONEY, I'm so broke I can't pay attention ! That is why it's a project, that's far from done. Actually I just about have everything stripped from it now. I am going to rewire, paint, and redo everything on the car. I have the 351W block, ofcourse the engine is going to be the last thing I do to it. By that time I am hopefully going to have enough money to build my home turbo system. Can you say 700rwhp ?

Oh I did take my dirt car out for the first time this year, and it ran great! But on the 3rd lap it threw the power steering belt, going into turn 3. Let's just say brakes don't work while the car is in the air . I would have said "yeehaaa", but I thought I was going to shat my pants . I pulled the motor this weekend so I can replace the bearings and rings, so I can make one more race this Sept. that pays more than normal.

Sweet project, and sounds like you're having too much fun on the dirt track. 351W block eh? Are ya' going for the old Clevor Stroker motor, or some aftermarket heads? What do you have for a dirt car?

I'll just stroke the 351W with a 4.0" SCAT crank. I'll either use TFS-R or AFR 205 heads (Although the AFR 225cc heads look nice). If I go turbo I'll use a T-70 maybe a T-76 depends on money . I am going to build my own roll bar for it, exhaust, blah, blah, blah. The dirt car is an old 73 Camaro. If you go to www.thunderbirdspeedway.com, it's a hot stock. I don't know if they have any pics or not of them. Have you done anything to your car lately?
