True duals in IL
True duals in IL
I was wondering if any of you guys have true duals, and live in Illinois.I want a x-pipe and a turn down, but the cops might notice I don't have any tailpipes or cats.Is there a remedy to my problem.Should I go w/ the cats and tail pipes.Any pics would be nice ,especially with shorties on. Mike
I would say go for it, and just take it easy around the cops. My car is pretty loud and I haven't gotten any crap from cops so far, we'll see if that keeps up after the headers go on though.
I don't have true dual, not yet anyways. I wanna do it soon. But right know my car is pretty loud with LT's y-pipe and borla with block off plate. Never been pulled over for loud exhaust yet, but a few other reasons. LOL .

Yea but theres no emmisions in the champ/urbana area right?
My car is hella loud. Headers, ORP, Cut-out to stright pipes with no muffler and that thing is annoyingly loud. I'm sick of it and i have to not step on the gas anytime i cop is near by....

I had dual exhaust on my car all last year, and it will have dual exhaust again this year...

I had 3" Dynomax bullets initially but I had a lot of cam and compression so my car was a lot louder than a stock LS1. Compression will really increase the loudness of the motor. I was running around with ~12:1.
I then installed two Borla XR1 mufflers and a homemade H pipe crossover. Much quieter but ground clearance was an issue.
FWIW...
-Legally you need tail pipes that exit the vehicle, I did get yelled at once by a Woodridge cop but it was 1am so I stood out like crazy.
-I have heard Xpipe and bullets and it sounded a lot better than my dual bullets with no crossover...
-Dual bullets and no crossover pipe setup sounds like ***, sounds like 80% of open headers.
-My h pipe setup had a Mustang type drone at 1800 rpms no biggie.
-I might try to do an Xpipe but I'm not sure since I plan to run dual 3.5" exhaust this year.
