Angry Mechanic wont get his thumb out his ***

First off I'd like to thank all the great advice I 've gained from this site. Even though this is my first post I've read here for atleast a year. Here's my deal. I ordered a 224/230 cam, pro mag 1.6rr, longtubes, 3000 stall, 3.73 gears, all the stuff that goes with the heads(locks, springs, ect.), new rings and bearings, ported my heads, and intake. I take my engine apart and then I meet this mechanic through work. I tell him about my car and he says he will put back together and drop it in for a small fee. Well 2 months later the car and parts have not moved, they are still sitting in the same place I left them. His damn shop, Im getting really upset over this. I want my car back. He's a good mechanic jsut lazy or busy. What makes me angry is the tells me 2 weeks tops more like 2 years. Can anyone advise of a good shop in Southern illinois. Sorry had to vent.

Surely there are some IL guys that would be glad to give you a hand. If you were closer, I'd come help. I say get some experienced guys that'll help you for little or no fee and get your parts back and do it yourself. Of course, you'll have to have the machine work done at a shop, but you can assemble it and put in it yourself. Good luck with it!

Have it taken to a different shop. If he's trying to do you a favor he's probably just doing it in his spare time. Ask for your money back and have it towed elsewhere.

Talking

Hate to inform you but most mechanics are like that. I dropped a car off to my mechanic almost 2.5 months ago and he tells me that he'll get to it every Sunday to save me $$$'s. Weeks and weeks go by. Also, I get parts from a salvage yard and it's always later this evening or tomorrow or it'll be here tomorrow. Get used to it..."the check is in the mail."...

I agree, most of the mechanix are lazy and busy, at least here in Hungary. Sometimes their motto is:

"We are working:
1. Good
2. Fast
3. Cheap
You can choose one option from the points mentioned above."

So, you see, that's why I do every fuggin' thing myself...

Moving to the Midwest section since what you are wanting is region specific.

I also edited your topic title... that isn't something we want the younger crowd reading Thanks!

I live in a small town called Johnston City, near Carbondale or Marion, IL if this helps anyone. Yeah Blazzin Im 2 miles out of Frankfort. I have all the parts all the machine work is done, I just don't have the garage to do it in. My buddy's dad kind of flipped on us having my car in his garage for so long.
