Looking for an engine builder in Chicago

Hey all!
Lookin for a good engine builder in the Chicago area. I know some great places to ship to, but I would rather find someone local. I did a search for this, but didn't really find anything too helpful.
Thanks!

I guess I should have been a bit more specific, sorry, I'm really looking for a good shop to do the machining. I'm doing the build myself.

I'm familiar ls1speed, anyone know if they do thier own machining? I'm guessing no.

Thanks!

You might wanna try Opel Engineering in streamwood. They have a great reputation. So does the shop across the street from them, J&R Automotive. Opel is the machine shop though. Call 411.

Check out General Engine in Skokie or Fast Times in Morton Grove. I used to see Fast Times mentioned all the time in magazines. I also had a friend that was very happy with his motor from them. Quite a few years ago I had a383 stroker built by General Engine and am still very happy with it. I would recommend either place.

I would not reccomend Steve Hatak he owes some folks I know money.

I would reccomend Bill @ Opel Engineering they are solid, maybe not cheap, but they know what they are doing. I had them go through my 6.0 heads and they went thru my old stroker which I sold to a friend.

I agree

Fast times are the ones doing the engine building for my RS turbo project. They even hooked me up with a guy who does exhaust work to route my exhaust and intercooler system. Believe me I think the PHR fifth fastest street car driver in america should know a thing or two about engines.

How does fast times turn around time amount to most shops? They pretty quick? Or make you wait like most shops?
