Anyone with T56 experience??
Anyone with T56 experience??
I just lost second gear at US 41 today. All other gears are fine.
Was going from 1st to second kinda hard, made a slight noise, and blue dust shot from under the car. Will go into 2nd gear no problem, no noises or anything, just wont even try to go, just revs like i am out of gear.
Shift fork maybe, or the shift fork pad? Can anyone help?

I'm not real sure what it could be.
Where exactly are you located?
My friend rebuilt his T56 last year. After working on cars for many years, he finally decided to quit his job and go to school at UTI. I know he's a little short on money right now, so he may be interested in working on it for you.

What does it do when you put it in neutral or another gear?
I asked him about it since I don't know much about manual trannies. He said without looking at it, it sounds to him like you broke a shift fork. If you did, whatever gear you were in, it will be stuck in that gear. Then if you try to put it in a different gear, thr trans will be in two different gears at the same time, since the fork isnt able to take it out of the one gear. That would lock up the trans because it can't spin two gears at once.
He said that he could maybe fix it pretty inexpensive depending on what's broken if you are interested.

Does the shifter positioning feel wierd at all?
He thinks it sounds like either a bent shift fork, but that would also affect 1st gear since they are grouped together. Or it could be a stripped synchro.

He'll probably end up going to Hooters with me on Sunday.
Where are you from again? I know you told me when you were interested in my Hooker exhaust, but I don't remember. I must be losing my memory

I I was the guy who was interested. Forgive me if i forgot to tell you that my girlfriend surprised me with a new one.
I thought i had mentioned that, but forgive me if not.
I am from bloomingdale, 10 minutes from the hooters we are going too.

Don't worry about it, it's cool. I wasn't in a big hurry to sell it, and I eventually did.
I'm sure if he's there he'll be willing to take a look at it.
Just look for my car. It's the bright blue LT1 Camaro with red reflective overlays on the emblems and Eagle 5 spoke wheels.
