Will this catch on fire?

Hey everyone, we all know of that black padding on the underside of our hoods. Well, I used some of it today on top of the valve cover and under the plate where the spark control module sits on a 96 V6 (Trying to keep the module cool). That shouldn't catch fire should it? It's kind of smushed inbetween those two things.....I wouldn't think so, but weirder things have happened to people so I decided to ask. Anyone know if that's ok to do? Thanks in advance,

It is tough to say. It is a heat shield I think they call or something else. So I would say no, but only after awhile under extreme heat, it might. I know because I had a fire once under my hood and it kinda started turning into ashes and stuff.

It should be all right, it is meant to handle high heat, However like TheCaptain i would take the torch to it to see just how much heat it can actually take.

Hey, everyone, thanks for the responses. I took ya'lls advice and I tried to set the stuff on fire but it refused to catch. So I figure I'm pretty set. Hopefully it stays that way, cuz I don't want to be responsible for melting her ignition system
