What's up with an RS?

Newbie question here

What makes an RS Camaro different from a regular Camaro?
I know in third-gen Camaro's the RS had a V-6 or TBI 305 V-8.
What type of engine does a 4th gen RS have?

3.8L V6, with Z28 exhausts, optional LSD, suspension differences, among other things. Mine has 3.43s, but that may have been the former owner's choice.

The RS upgrade was done by SLP.

Everyone makes mistakes.

The RS exhaust isn't like the stock exhaust, so partial credit.

Y87 Package = RS type peformance (no badging)
Y86 = I believe this was the RPO for the RS that was offered on the LT1 body style
Y3F = Sport Appearance Package
Y3B = SLP Rally Sport Package

I know Y3B was offered in 01s and 02s, I don't know if it was offered in any other years.

Yea I have that package on my 1999 3.8L

Stock dual exhaust, Z28 Steering ratio, upgraded gears, LSD, etc...Y87 package thing. So would my car be basically an RS?

I think Y87 is basicly a RS without stately calling it a RS and has no markings or emblems.

On the 96 the Y87RS includes the posi rear end and dual exhaust but the regular RS doesn't.

This is as good a time as any to ask.

Did all Y3B RS models come with the LSD? Out of curiosity about my own (2001).
