whats the difference between 96-97 3.8 and 98+

whats the difference between 96-97 3.8 and 98+

whats different block, heads tranny wise?

can i bolt a 2001 v6 into any 3.8 car?

I think I rember the newer 3.8's have a different position throttle body then the older ones. the 96-97 have a different intake then the 98+ sometimes the exhaust are a little different, 98+ were one piece welded and the 97- were bolted together.

I dont see why the engine's arent interchangeable.

Also if i remember correctly they changed to tubular manifolds from the traditional cast iron heaps of metal which makes spark plug changes not such a PITA

Same here, both are series II 3800 engines.

blocks are the same for all years. Intakes, throttle bodies, crank pullies, and other minor changes.

the engine will bolt up fine, i think. u will have to change a few things as stated right above.
