I'd probably start with the cold air induction kit, its easy to install, and usually one of the first things people start with.

K&N and SLP both make good kits.

if its an m5 id say a short throw shifter, !cat, & !cot/codes...little g gained 4 tenths and a couple mph just by deleting his cat & !cot & a short throw shifter is always a good mod to start with.

Re: What are some cheap mods?

You cant do anything besides a CAI with 150 bucks. Do you just have a muffler or the qhole exhaust kit? Gut out the cat take it to the shop and ask the guy to gut it, only 50 bucks, unless its illegal. I would say headers but thats anywhere from 700 to 1,000, so dunno.

i think uncoated pacesetter headers are like $250ish new...you can find them used for less...!cat is usually $50-$150...and i normally delete codes & cot for $30-75 depending on how much the person wants done...I still think either the shifter or the cat/codes Idea is going to gain you the most for that amount of $

basically nothing, its a stupid thing to do unless ur running a lot more power than we do...
maybe 1hp at most, may sound marginally better (but still, our cars sound like poo, no matter what) - and it will smell worse/pollute a LOT more, don't do it, basically, not worth it
