but 4th gen uses 3.4L which is a bored or stroked(can't remember what) 3.1L, so much like it, alot of them have 3.1L castings

there are FWD variants but not sure if they are exactly teh same or not.

the only car to use the iron head tuned port 3.1 are the 90-92 f bodys

 

they are bored 3.1L's well actually they are sleved 3.1L's boring a 3.1 to a 3.4L would be a bit on the risky side (i have a pair of crankshafts from 3.4L motors that say 3.1L on them )

 

ok didin't know if some fwd late 80s early 90s cars had them, I know a few had 2.8Ls (cavalier z24)

 

Yeah my 93 cavalier z-24 had the multi-port 3.1L engine and that was the norm until 95 obviously when the body style changed and the DOHC 2.4L became the motor for the z-24.
