I have a 94 v6 camaro 3.4 l auto and i would like to know what kind of gears i have any info is appreciated thanks! also is it worth it to get higher gears in my car like would i be able to feel a difference?

 

all 3.4L's have a 3.23 gear ratio stock

i changed to a 3.42 LSD rear from a 6 speed Z, the car deffinetly launches harder turning both wheels, however i only noticed a slight acceleration increase while i was already moving

 

auto's have 3.08 , manuals have 3.23 im prety sure. i know for 3.8,. pretty sure same for 3.4

 

you can jack up the car and turn the wheel one revolution and count how many times the driveshaft turns

i am 100% sure that every 3.4L came from the factory with 3.23 gears, if you are correct about the 3.8L gear ratios, except for the Y87 package gave the 3.8L cars a 3.42 LSd rear

3.4's were only available with 3.23's.

I, like atl2001, plan on swaping them out for 3.42's so It will launch better and that will also give me rear disc brakes.

 

You've got it backwards, autos have 3.23s and manuals have 3.08s unless you have the y87 package.

 

My 3.8 manual had 3:23s. While I was building my V8 I upgraded my rearend and drove the V6 a few weeks with 4:56 gears. We ran some 10.8s in the 1000ft with our V6, and 3:23s but the 4:56s killed it after the 330ft mark. It launched like a monster but fell on its face soon after. That was with about 290HP.
