What are gapped spark plugs?

I see the NGK spark plugs at tunderracing.com for the 3.8L camaro has 2 different gaps, whatever that means. What ones do I want and what is the difference between them. The are .035 and .050 gapped.

I dont know official spark plug lingo, but you know the "prong" end of the sparkplug? The bent piece of metal like a L? The distance between that and teh the small round metal conductor piece where teh spark is made is the gap. The gap is basically how far the spark travels when your spark plug goes off. I would consult your vehicle manual as to which gap plug to use. I personally gap my plugs myself.

thats wierd they sell 2 different gaps. all spark plugs are gapped. the part that goes into your motor, that is what is gapped. you can buy spark plugs and even a spark plug gapper. hell i have to buy a gapper every year cause i lose them so easy- they are only a buck.
when you change your plugs your manual says the plugs should be gapped at 65. some cars are different and are specified different. nitrous cars use smaller gaps. i was using smaller gaps when i had my head work done. bosh platinums and some others are pre-gapped and should not be changed. go to an autozone and just ask, it will only take a minute to show ya.

Most likely they plugs are TR-55 and TR-6 model numbers. The TR-6 has the .035 gap and is used for cooler running applictation like N2O cars. If your car is not running juice or a SC then I suggest the TR-55s with the .050 gap.

Spend $1-2 and get a spark plug gap gauge.

You can always re-gap those plugs...they sometimes say not to but...

Is your car modded?

No, my car is not modded, just a Cold air induction from SLP. I got an email from another guy with a 3.8L and he said that he put the .035's in because the .050's are for nos engines. But I already ordered the .050's! So is that right or wrong? Thanks. Will the car still run fine?

thats wrong. lower gapped plugs are for nitrous. our manual says 60 or 65 i am sure. i just remember thinking damn, i could park a bus inbetween there!
usually people who email others to help out are correct in thier emailings, but this guy is mistaken. i did use 35 gap for a while, but my car is modded to hell and back. you will be fine with ehat you bought. call autozone and just ask them what your gap should be.
