what to do with $1000?

well i just got me a new job and im making money pretty quick...so ive saved up some money to spend on my car and ive got around 1000 to spend on the car engine wise. What would be the best bang for the buck performance wise for a V6? Ive been thinking about getting a good cam (dont know exactly how much one of them cost and i have no idea what to get, thats why i need some help), a cut-out and some headers. That would probaly come to over 1000 but oh well. Does anyone have any ideas on what i can do?

what other mods do you have? you could do both headers and cam for $1k if you do the work yourself, otherwise each one will eat up a better part of that budget. Sounds like a plan to me, but I would upgrade my intake before I did either of them.

the best mod you could do is to keep saving.... sell your v6 and buy a v8

unless you like your car and the v6 insurance.

im actually thinking about putting another engine in it and im looking at some other engines other than the LS1 like the ramjet 350 and others. Im just trying to see which one would be more cost efficient to do so i dont exactly know right now.

Exactly. But if you do want to pour money into your v6, definitely go with a good nitrous setup.

I sure as hell wasn't going to pour money into my 97 v6 Camaro, so I saved up, sold the Camaro and bought my 01 WS6.

if your going to swap engines, unless your doing it yourself and are good at wiring, you might actually consider just selling and trading up to a trans am w/ either LT1 or LS1, depending on what you want. other engines like the ram-jet 350 can be done, but require even more work and then Im not sure what you have to do as far as meeting local emissions testing and whatnot, or if you can even meet the standards.
Everything is relative to what level power you are looking for. Theres a million different routes to go to achieve your goals. I absolutely LOVE the guys that tell you that its not worth modding a 6 and then drive a basically stock v-8 themselves. Way to go guys. Your really pushing the envelope.

Yeah. And blowing your *** off the road every time

I'm just saying why not save your money like I did when I had a 97 v6 Camaro, and wait on a v8 f-body? Its better to begin with a stronger mill that has a lot more power anyway. I can get 450rwhp much easier, cheaper and reliably than you could with your v6 f-body. Just hold yourself over with nitrous, and save for a v8 like I did. Also, if you achieve the power of a stock LS1, you'll get less gas mileage than a 6-speed LS1 anyway.

so why are you reading/ posting here anyway then? appareantly your point of view is that this v6 forum is pointless since everyone w/ a 6 should just be saving for a T/A or Z-28. Is it that you feel inferior to those in the LS1/LT1 forums that are modded and making more power than you, yet you need to impose your godlike v8 owning presence on someone? Im just a little confused.... appareantly so, as I own a 'bird and not a T/A.

Dude, stfu and go to another board... . I'm just saying that its better to not waste your money modding the **** out of your v6. Just wait and get a v8 (like I did). That is the reason I registered on cz28.com, because my first f-body was a 97 camaro 3.8v6 you f-in idiot. Some newbies.....

A air lid and headers will cost you around $700 (if you do it yourself). Then with the $300 left you could get a SS take off exhaust and have it installed.

If you plan on modding more then this then you might want to look into getting a V8 f-body.
