I am hoping for low 15's with this car. It seems weel set up for drag duty as far as a V6 goes. The 3.42 gears seeem to be great powerband wise for drag racing with this engine. The thing plants you hard in you seat when you launch it and pulls go till the topend Also i am a very good driver...been drag racing at the local strip since I was 16, so thats not an issue.

15.1- 15.2 is not unlikely with exhaust and intake (free ram air or FTRA, and a cutout). You probably would run a mid-15 stock.

In the above article they got a hink if I t15.2 outta a pretty much stock base V6. Stick 3.42's and dual exhuast on and I think I can have 14's. Like I said I am a good driver...I take off the air filter, play with tire pressure...get teh rev RPM's right I can see 15.1. We will see March 1'st

I know right?!?!!!!! For some reason my car is slow as hell. I've only taken it to the track once and I made 4 passes. The best I pulled was a................ get this................ 17.8 1/4mile. I have an automatic and I had some decent reaction times. One thing, I did have my whole stereo in at the time...... so that's an extra 250lbs or so! But even still............. i don't know. Maybe she's gettin old. It's a 1996 with only 45k miles!!

R/t's are only helpful in a race agianst another car....

if it was .500, or 7 seconds... the 1.4 mile clock doesn't start till you move...

thats why it is possible to have a slower 1/4 time and win the physical, because you had a better reaction time.

What was you 60' and more important the mph your car hit at the end of the 1/4 mile, and the elevation of your track.

My bad, I did do a little better then the 17.8.... but here goes!

Elevation= near sea level....
60ft.= 2.41
1/8et= 11.1
1/8mph= 62.2
1/4et= 17.4
1/4mph= 76.3

So yeah. Pretty darn slow. What's up with that?!?!?! I have an automatic, so it's not the driver! I have 3.42gears & LSD........ (Y87 package) HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Whoa when was the lst time you had a tune up?

you mph shoudl be in the 80s....

there is something in your car making it not have full power.

And for the 2.4 60', that could be better, but if you are trapping at 76 mph then your 60' maybe fine, jsut car doesn't have power to pull a better one.

Any SES lights?

when was the last itme you did plugs, and wires. If its been awhile I would do it them and test all 3 ignition coils.
Do you feel the car "stutter", under a constant throttle?

how old is the fuel filter?
when was last time you replaced your air filter?
Ever change your o2 sensors, you could be running super rich.
how old is your Catalytic converter could be getting clogged up.
Any funny smells from your exhaust?

I am trapping 10 mph faster then you so that says I am making a significant amount more hp then you are, and I have a modded 3.4L

your car should be at least the low 80s, and that still woudl not be a very could speed for a 96 Y87.

I bought the car with 24kmiles on it. It now has 46k and I haven't really done much to it. Just changed the oil (of course) and added a K&N air filter. No new plugs, wires or O2 sensors. Haven't changed the fuel filter yet, but was planning on it pretty soon. There is no stuttering. You are referring to a misfire, correct? No. I did have that problem a bit ago, but had it fixed. They said it was a shorted coil. So now I would think that they checked all the coils, and found them to be good. I DO have an SES light, but it was not on when I ran those times. It came on after I installed my cat-back. I had it pulled once and they said it was an e-vap code..... I think. It been a while ago. They said it was no big deal so I don't really worry about it. I stays on for a while (30 cold starts is it?) and then it will turn off. Then the next day, it will turn on again. And then 30 cold starts later.... etc. etc. The car seems to run fine. No funny noises or smells...... I don't know why I'm SO SLOW!!!!
