Water leaking rear passenger side, please help

First interior problem of this year, or ever since owning the car.

I thought I was leaving frozen food in my back passenger side foot space on the floor. I usually leave things back there. Today I went out and it was wet, not just a little but a lot. It had rained a few days ago and car was left parked. Parked on a slight uphill. This leak is right behind the passenger seat, where the floormat would go (and that's it).

I had this happen before and didn't think it was anything big. Doesn't seem to do it when it is washed, just when it rains (from what I can tell). I did put new rubber bumpers on the rear of the hatch to stop it making noises.

I am lost and dunno where to go or look. I don't use my AC. I read about an evap tube, but i didnt think that was a issue.

Please, let me know what could be causing the problems I am having witht he mystery leak?

T-tops? maybe the car isnt wet enough when you wash it to let in enough water to leak. my aunt had that problem on her 3rd gen. firebird.

I had this problem i and know where it comes from most of the time. The weather stripping running from the t-tops down to all the way to the front of the door, is not glued down.(thanks GM) Over time the seal of the weather stripping just doesnt seal anymore. the water simply runs right behind the weather strip and under the carpet andpools in the rear seat area. What i did is pulled the weather stripping off and ran a bead of silicone in the chanel of the weather stripping then pushed it back on. You will have to remove the plastic peice on the car to get the weather stipping off. After that bone dry back there.

It seems like it comes from under the seat due to the way the floor pan is shapped. I pulled the carpet to make sure it was not from under the car.

Hope that solves your problem like it did mine.

Strange you should mention it...I have the "mystery leak" too, and I don't have t-tops. About once per year I'll find a little water under the rear passenger floormat. The only thing I can think of is water or condensation getting in through the passenger window. if it's not rolled up tight.

The car sits outside, and I never wash it with more than a garden hose sprayer. Most of the time it stays dry...occasionally I'll find a little wet spot.
