Wacky Gauges

Any one know what could cause my gauges to jump around while the car is running in park or stopped at a light? Mainly just the Tach and speedo. It stops whenever I give it gas.

Yeah now mine does it constantly, even more when I turn on the inside fan and it does it even when I'm driving now. Now my lights are flickering alittle on the inside and out. This is starting to worry me.

Re: Wacky Gauges

had the same problem a while back. at first the gauges would jump around a bit then my lights inside and out would go off for a split second.
after a lot of looking it ended up being a loose ground wire under the dash.
so look around and see what you can find.

Sorry for the late reply. Was on vacation.

Actually and Ironically My Camaro Is your Camaro, my name is Joe too.......I picked it up in Cheektowaga from your father. He Said that you were heartbroken to get rid of it I can understand why.... She's a beauty. This car sticks to the road in turns like no other. Great job on the T-tops. They don't leak.

Bad news I suffered a hit and run at the end of June.... $4800 in Damage Two weeks, one new Drivers side Door, Quarter panel, and a mismatched Goodyear later, she's back to normal "With Fresh paint" (they had to paint the whole car because they couldn't get that light purple Chameleon effect the old paint had).

As for minor recent mods; I took the two Chevy Sticks off the front seats since they were peeling and left the one on the rear. Interior
lights still work, strobes too. Gray cloth Seat covers which look dumb.
I definitely plan on keeping the stock headunit but want to replace the four rear speakers soon. I think the guys at the shop abused the radio while she was in. When I got her back the speaker just behind the drivers seat sounded like it was blown according to some bass lines anyway. I don't think I'll mess with the door speakers, but that may change.
I'd really like to get the MTX stealth box, but I can't figure out where else to mount the CD changer.
Clear marker lights and a Trans Am power antenna are on their way.

Billit Camaro letters will go on the back eventually. Still Deciding on a front grill, I'm thinking mesh. In the end White ground effects lighting and 18" wheels will be added after most mechanical mods.

I plan on headers and a Borla Exhaust with adjustable cut outs, along with a new air intake over the Winter (Since she'll be off the road). Eventually a transgo shift kit. I'd like a 3 series rear Diff with 3.43's, new limited slip, and an Aluminum Drive Shaft by the end of next summer.

I had a few questions for you. Do you have the Interior T-top Shades still? Your dad said he would ask you, but I haven't stopped by his work since May to ask him. If so, could I stop by an pick em up sometime? And did you ever experience water build up on the passenger side floor? I have twice so far but I cant figure out why it happens. All it has done is rain this summer yet this has only happened twice.

I had pretty much the same issue, the problem for mine was the engine to body ground at the firewall needed to be replaced.

wow, what a small world.
About the T-top shades- I never had any because I got the T-tops from a yard. You can Probablly pick them up pretty cheep.

The Water On the floor is due to leaks In he Firewall- Very common Problem in 4th Gens. There Is a write-up floating around somewhere that can help you.

I work a that office too, If you ever have a question just stop by- Check the back lot for my Jeep- and Id be glad to help you out.

I have a backup set of caliper decals and some other stuff if you want it

Im glad your happy with it. I loved that car.
E-mail If yo ever have a question/need help

Heh small world, but I believe if your gauges are acting weird at idle and your lights dimmen... you're losing your alternator or battery.

Yep it was the Alt. I replaced it and all is good.

But I think I'm going to check the engine to body ground connection at the firewall anyway, like Javelin3o4 mentioned. Wouldn't hurt a thing doing that. Now would it?

Re: Wacky Gauges

water on the pass floorboard sometimes is due to a leaking heater core. Atleast it was on my moms S10
