V6 to Y87

Does anyone know/have dyno numbers for a stock 2002 Camaro A4 with the Y87 package? And then the dyno numbers for a 2002 Camaro A4 numbers? And what both got in the 1/4 mile?

Thanks

Correct me if I am wrong but the only thing the Y87 package (a.k.a. RS package) has that would improve 1/4 mile times is 3.42 gears. In this case the 1/4 miles wouldn't be very different and should dyno the same.

3.42 Posi, not 3.42.

Best I've seen with a stock V6 with an M5 and 3.23's was 15.5. With the air box removed and the accesories bypassed, 15.3.

There's nothing close enough to it. I have a 97 RS and does not have the Y87 package. That package was listed as an option like the RS package!!!

Y87 = Posi, 3.42's in autos, dual outlet muffler, sport steering, sport handling

RS = ground effects, sport steering

I thought they stopped making the RS and they offered the Y87 in it place. Did they make a 98-02 RS?

In 97 that was the last year that it was offered as an option. But I belive it was 00 and on that the RS was offered again, as an option. I'm not mistaken the Y-87 package was standard and SLP put togeather the RS package as an option.

No, you most likely just have the sport appearance package. Like someone said before, SLP threw some ground effects and badges on and called their version an RS.

Nooo...I did those myself...my car was just a regular Camaro Convertible before I started modding it. But say I get 3.42 gears, then would it be "acceptable" to put RS badges on the car since its basically and RS. I'm not saying i'm going to do that I just curious about other peoples opinion.

From 98 up the RS package in the previous cars was named "The Sport Appearence package" and was optional. This was so they could offer the sport appearence package on the Z28. The Y87 package is the "V6 performance package" and features in A4 cars a 3.42 POSI rear, sport steering gear, and dual exhaust. Generally dealers ordered both options togethor...hence the confusion.

The Camaro RS that was made by SLP had a few performance tweaks to get it to 220HP, stripes, and no ground effcts. They are pretty rare.

I believe this has already been identified but Chevrolet did not offer the y87 and RS packages together. It was either one or the other, and it was SLP that put the RS package together. Previous notes indicate what came with the RS package.

The 00 RS came with the 97SS wheels, stripes, RS grill, and a dual exhaust outlet with the Z tips.

Just my $0.02
