V6 vs. Hummer H2

theres some rich kid im my town who drives around in his parents hummer H2 and thinks its the baddest thing in the world. he challenged me to a race and i said "why should i waste my time" i was pretty sure id beat him, he said "its just a V6" but i really didnt want to go race anyway. well i think im gonna race him so he will stop talking sh*t and shut. I figure thats better than beating the sh*t out of him and going to jail. (his parents are VERY rich) anyway. the numbers are like this: 3800 II V6- about 16 hp/pound. H2-6.0L vortec V8- about 21 hp/pound. the hummer has like 330 hp and 360 pounds torque. i figure i should beat him. To tell you how little he knows about things, he said the hummer could take my dads WS6. hmm equal hp and the WS6 is half the weight. i just said "whatever you think."

I (in all my infinite wisdom) would race in either (the V6 or the WS6). And add pink slips to the equation. That H2 is too big, take to long to load up.

After is all said and done, then kick the crap out of him (before you drive away in your new H2)

16 pounds per horse!!! Not 16 horses per pound. That'd mean you have 53,168 horsepower...a hair under nine times what John Force has to go 4 seconds in the quartermile.

The more recognizeable figures are to take horsepower (and torque) and divide that by weight.
A performance car is considered to have 10 pounds of weight per horse.

200 horses divided by 3,323 pounds is a power to weight ratio of .060.
An H2's iron block LS1 makes about .049.
You win by horsepower, having about 23% more power to weight.
As far as torque goes, you score a .067, while an H2 posts a .056. So you win by torque to weight ratio by 20%

He shouldn't even have a chance off the line. The H2 does 0-60 in about 10 seconds. A stock V6 with 3.08's will still pull a 0-60 time of near 8 seconds.

Run him in the V6, just make sure he doesn't have any excuses before you race.

I'm going to have to go with HPbyChevy's infinite wisdom here.

H2's trap 77-78 mph in the 1/4. You trap high 80's i'd imagine. If you dont hand him his ***, let me know and I'll do it in my 3.4.

Big doesn't always mean slow. John Lingenfelter's Twin Turbocharged 427ci LS1 powered All-Wheel-Drive Cadillac Escalade EXT makes over 700 horsepower and goes
12.38 @ 107.5 MPH and 3.9 seconds 0-60 MPH
Good enough to put the hurt on a Corvette Z06.

He also has a package for the new H2, gives it's iron block 364ci LS1 550 horsepower with a magnuson intercooled supercharger. So if they do have money, be careful its not a Lingenfelter!!!
