I did it. Well worth the time money and effort.

Plus I am still paying insurance on a V6.

Since I did the swap, I have pulled the motor back out and stroked it to a 383. And I am still paying insurance on a V6.

Well worth it.

Plus if anyone knows your car as a V6 you can roll up and lay the smackdown after doing the swap. Just leave the camaro lettering on the side and show no indication of an LT1.

Good luck with your decision.

How do you still pay insurance on a V6 didn't you have to inform your insurance company of a new engine?

insurance compnaies go by the VIN # not what you have under the hood

i dont think any companies sell a "kit" to do the swap , but there are places that can sell you the stuff you need. i can think of the URL , but there is a place on the net that parts out wrecked f-bodies

Basically, he has chosen to save money now and risk losing money later should he wreck the car and the insurance company totals it... Were that to happen, he would only get blue book value for a v6 not a v8 f-body.

It all boils down to how much you're willing to risk. You could always add a special rider to your insurance policy to cover the new engine costs, but your insurance premium will be higher (possibly as high as a normal v8 f-body).

Good luck with your decision. Honestly, I've been contemplating selling mine as well lately. Just sort of a speed thing, but the problem is I love my car...my first car ever...and it's in pretty good condition. Unfortunately it has 120k on the odometer, but most of it is highway I assume. I have college coming up next year...and I'll be bringing my car with me. I've been debating whether I should just keep it for then. I'm currently saving my money for either some sort of big wheeled truck...or hopefully a wrangler as a winter car. But with getting a new car, should I be selling my Camaro? I really don't konw...geez I'm confused.

I always thought maybe I could swap later. But isn't there so much involved? First...lots of time. Second, don't you have to put in a whole new tranny, suspension, and somehow get a new dash-speedo for the swap?

Maybe I should just drive the Camaro until it dies...and then plan on that.

Hmm...

any advise guys would be appreciated.

I dont think an engine swap is as big of deal as everyone makes it out to be. Yea it takes time and some work but it can be done. Millions of people swap out engines in cars everyday. I dont see whats so hard about it.

speedautomotive.com can get you a complete kit with a T-56 if you want..my 3.8 just got banged up last week i was thinking about selling it in the summer for a v-8 f body or an engine swap
but now my decision is final im already looking for something else, anyways its not cost effective to drop a new motor in a v-6 .... well depends on your driving wreckord rolleyes:
