V6 3.4l Overheating.....

ok so this is the 300th overheating story! but really i have a problem my 3.4l 94 v6 camaro got a new oem thermo about 6 months ago and kept running hot. Me and my girlfriends father asked around and everyone we talked to said it sounds like a radiator problem so i finally bit the bullet and got a new radiator.... and low and be hold it still overheats. The guy who had the car before me put a dynomax chip in it and a new cam (his dad builds hi po engines and he helped so we were assured it was done right) I was thinking about putting a new low temp thermo in it but the guy at the parts shop couldnt find one in his system to fit my car so he said he thinks the thermo is 195 so other sensors in the car dont flip out and start going off because of lower temps. But i see alot of people have put um in so i wonder if hes wrong? and also if anyone has any ideas on the overheating problem. thanks.

Well, guy at auto parts store is wrong. Other sensors won't "flip out" because the coolant is cooler than 195*. Why don't they "flip out" when the car is still cold? My 3.4 would run up to about 210 every time I stopped at a light. As long as it didn't get much higher than that, I didn't worry about it. Ran strong like that for years.

You could have air in the system somewhere. Make sure the fan is coming on. Those are the most obvious things I can think of.

Throw some water on it, that'll cool it down

Maybe you have a leaking tube? upper or lower radiator hose? new hoses and clamps at Autozone 19bux..

umm pick up two jugs of anitfreeze. and a waterpump..

umm check it out if its low add to it.. and then start the car with the caps on and find the bleader screw on the system.. bleed the air off it! that might help..

if not you might have a problem with your WaterPump.. mine was bad but turned fine.. only way I figured mine was bad was by pulling it off and checking it upon checking I found it had two small holes on it.. and one had a black line like ink had ran down, we came to the conclusion duh dumbasses that probally is a warning mark that it means it is bad.. so we changed it

and we changed the hoses.. that is all you can do really man, change the hoses check the water pump.. replace it or keep it, add to it bleed it off if that dosent work maybe its just a bad T-Stat.. run it w/o if none of that helps and see if its working.. just dont run it long.. and btw if it works and stays cool while its out, get a new 160* T-stat from ThunderRacing.

Also try flushing/cleaning the radiator.
