torque converter?

i was reading somewhere and they were saying if u get a diff cam that u should upgrade to a 2400 stall converter...
"my question is im going to be getting a cam, and should i get a new converter?" how would it run on the street with it what difference would i notice?
THanks

yes you should match your cam to your stall, depending on the specs of the cam (where you will be making the most power) determines where your TC should stall. with a higher stalling converter you will get less MPG, but if you are swapping a new cam in there that will also hurt your MPG, so might as well make the car run fast while its gettin crappy MPG

2400 is too small. I wouldn't get no less than a 2800 stall.

i 100% agree! Anything under 2800 isnt worth it.
i think on a pretty much bolt on car, a 2800 would be perfect, although some like to go a tad bit higher,,

Think 3200+ man. 3.8s with high stalls are wicked to drive. You'll love it.

That's the stall I'm planning on getting, but if I might go higher if I get a cam.

i would reccomend the stock converter in your car with the current mods, until you start making a decent ammount of power more than stock there isnt much of a point in it IMO

Question

how exactly does a torqu converter work, because i think my understanding is wrong, i think i get how it works from a standstill, ie (if u had a 3200stall) it wouldnt go till 3200rpm but how bout when it changes gears, , i might be wrong but how do they work?
