Took My Catalic Converter Out

First time posting here. Whats Up? I just have a simple question of how much did I help my 102,000 Mile V6 3.4 1994 Camaro. They call it a test pipe when they totally cut it out and just make a straight pipe. I have a 80 Series flowmaster muffler and without the cat this thing sounds means. And i mean "MEAN"... i have gotten so many compliments. It looks mean and sounds mean but its not LOL. Its not illegal in my town because we only have about 3000 people here Sorry a little off topic but i got a couple questions.

1. How much HP did it add?
2. Better gas mileage?
3. Lower RPM when idling?
4. Engine doesnt run as hard?

Thanx,

Good question. I'd like to know the same on a 3.8 (though the results are probably the same).

Would it change HP, torque, or anything? Does it make smog worse? What does the Cat do anyway?

The cat is restrictive and you will gain a few hp to a bit of a decent amount depending on mods. The cat changes bad chemicals so they aren't so bad. Like carbon monixide and green house gases. Something like that so when you remove it the emissions are worse but you get better flow and you wont pass inspection if you state has emissions laws that is. Where I live its strict so I can barely do anything and watch what I do or I screw myself.

Well the great state ( ) of MI doesn't have checks or anything...

...but would this make my exhaust smell like sh*t? And would I just put piping in to replace the cat?

How does the straight pipe compare to before with just the catback? big improvement soundwise? any noticable differnce in acceleration? (doubtfull, lol) I'm kinda considering paying someone to do this for me. (no emissions)

Well i had mine taken out for 40 dollars.. Lot more exhaust but sounds MEANNNNNNNN like throaty and gurgley. If you have no emission laws in the state its worht it. I heard it adds 10% more HP is this true? Better Gas Mileage?

HP Sounds a lil high.... I couldn't tell you for sure though, I haven't done it... I wouldn't expect much of a improvement. Have you done any intake work? Ported TB, CAI, etc? I might have it done this summer, it sucks because I have to have like a friend do it, it's illegal for muffler shops to do it.

Re: Took My Catalic Converter Out

Haha the guy at the muffler shop told me it was illegal but he did it anyway! I have basically no mods to the engine only a couple things:

1. Dark green window tent (suprised i havent been pulled over)
2. K&N Air Filter
3. Flowmaster 80 Series
4. Put in a sweet audio system (2) 12" subwoofers and 4 pioneer speakers
5. Aftermarket Stainless steel exhaust tip 3" (intercooled)

Is a cold air intake worth to buy on a 102,000 mile V6 3.4L 1994 Camaro?
Im guessing an extra 200 dollars?

Re: Took My Catalic Converter Out

My only problem with the under-car ram air systems is the point that rain or snow could get in. That's no good in Michigan...

Re: Took My Catalic Converter Out

Yeah, but doesn't that omit 90% of the airflow from coming through?

Re: Took My Catalic Converter Out

It shuts the ram air and uses the stock flow but its not like you need the extra hp in snow or rain. Don't want to lose control you know. They also say that gravity should have the water just fall down the ram air. Theres the cover if your not a risk taker I guess.

Re: Took My Catalic Converter Out

I got my cat taken off also. Yea the exhaust smells like **** somewhat.

Also, I never heard it before i got it taken off, and I mean with my flowmaster (whatever they put on there, im actually not sure, i didnt have a choice b/c my parents took it in). Its still not as loud as i wish it was @ idle.

But over 3000 rpms it cracks like no other, anyone know why?

TO WATCH YOU WILL NEED THIS CODEC:
http://download.divxmovies.com/XviD-1.0.3-20122004.exe

IT DECREASED THE SIZE BY A LOT SO I USED IT!
