Ticking injectors
Ticking injectors
I replace my faulty orginal injectors and replaced them with a set of the stock replacement accell injectors. At first the were ticking on the passenger side, then the noise moved to the driver side injectors. It was definatly an injector tick but I couldn't tell which ones except which side it was on. Now the tick has gone away or I just don't notice it anymore. Is this a normal noise? Maybe until they break in? What causes it? Should I be worried about it?
Re: Ticking injectors
what your describing sounds normal too me. Your injector is nothing but an electro-magnet. The computer ground the injector and a certant time and a coil inside the injector engergizes and cause a pentle inside the injector to move up and allow fuel into the incomming air. When that pentle moves up is moving faily fast and usualy creates the ticking you are hearing. Nothing really to be worried about unless its a lifter cuasing the tick you hear. But you never heard what a sticking lifter sounds like then its gonna be kind of hard to distiguish the two. But like you said it went away so I really won't worry about it too much unless it comes back.
Re: Ticking injectors
Ok thanks, I appriciate the response. After a search on this board I read about ticking lifters but it was always decribed as happening with many miles on the car, never brand new. I do know the difference between a lifter tick and injector tick and this was definatly an injector tick. I won't worry about it though. Thanks for the help. Oh yeah and even the techs at summit racing and accell didn't know anything about it!
