Is there a noticable difference in a Y87 Camaro over a normal V6?

I just bought an 02 Camaro V6 with a Y87 performance and sport appearance package. It is being trucked in from PA and I get it tommorow. Untill then I have a regular 01 V6 car. I must admit I am impressed with the power of the 3800 over the 3400. my question is...I am wondering is there a noticable improvement with teh Y87 package over the regular V6? I coulda got a regular V6, but I chose this one because after hagling with the dealer I got him to give me the Y87 car for only $150 more over a base V6.

its a big improve ment over a standard v6,imo
it gives ya a posi, and if the cars auto a 3.42 gear insted of the 3.08( 5 speeds keep there 3.23)
also it give ya the faster turning box from a z28(14:1 compared to 16.9:1)
it also gives ya a dual tiped muffler, tho you'll probably replce it with a better muffler
i think it also give ya wider tires(235 insted of 205)

The 01 and 02 both have the same engines. GM stopped making the 3400 in 95. The Y87 have 3.42 gears and lsd, but most of the 2000+ cars come standard with those options anyway. There is about a .3-.5 in a 1/4 difference between 3.08s and 3.42s.

he ment they stoped putting the 3.4 in f-bodys in late 95
and the 3400 is a sligtly differnt motor(aluminum heads) than the 3.4

I coulds swore Y87 was the only way to get an LSD posi and a 3.42 axle ratio. I though the base Camaros got a 3.08

I test drove a Y87 car before buying mine, they didnt want to work on the price so that is why I bought mine.

I didnt feel a stearing difference but the Y87 car had a little more of a potential to peal out but it felt like it's power band ended before mine did, where as mine was a little less peppy off the line but felt like it could drag the torque out longer.
I think that was because the 3:08 is geared higher.

All around, if I was ordering a new car I would probibly want it unless they werent going to be flexable about it, (like my case)

Nope. That changed in 2000. My car doesn't have the Y87 code on the door, but it came stock with 3.42s (GU6), LSD (G80), dual exhaust and rear disc brakes. Your 01 V6 probably had some of those options already, but you didn't realize it.
