temp sending unit/pcu sender
temp sending unit/pcu sender
hello, i am a newbie here. gotta question about cooling system electronics. my g/f has a 94 camaro (3.4, auto). the fan doesnt come on til about 230* according to the gauge. i know they are s'posed to come on high, but is that right. i dont know if that is right, if the sender for the gauge is bad, or the sensor for the computer is bad.
can someone tell me where the temp gauge sender is and where the computer/fan switch is (i think one is down on the drivers side front of the block and one is on top of the engine).
i am thinkin of running a switch from to the relay trigger to activate the fan whenever. ive seen the kits for a lower temp fan sensor and they are pricey. any other alternatives (for a fan switch)..... and once its on, the car cools down real quickly.
i dont want to start throwing money at sensors, so all help is very much welcome. thank you all in advance.

i wanted an adjustable fan controller, so if i swap stat temps at some later point, i can dial in the switch where i want it.
gotta question for you. on this car, whenever the HVAC controls are at any setting except for the setting for just upper vents or just lower vents, the fan comes on. does this sound right? yours do the same?
she usually has the a/c or heater or defroster on, which would make the fan be on anyhow. at a minimum, i will do a manual switch.
thanks for all the ideas, keep 'em comin. :-)
