take off parts and t top conversions

i have a 98 3.8 a4 i want to order a take off mufler from a 98+ Z28 from SLP, will i have any problems with the putting the larger muffler(3 inch) with my stock exhuast (2.5 inch)??

also, There is a t top conversion kit for sale, does anyone out there have a ballpark guess of what the labor would be to install the $325 conversion kit?

The SLP take-off will work out fine. I bolted mine on myself. In theory it should take two clamps and an 3" to 2.50" adaptor, plus the z-28 hanger and isolator. The problem was that SLP likes to torch off the exhausts rit next to the muffler, leaving no surface to clamp to on the muffler side. I took my exhaust to a guy at the metal fabrication shop down the road and had him weld the adaptor to the myuffler for 15.00, aleviating the need for one of the clamps. The next problem is that the take-off muffler is longer than the stock muffler and because of the welded adaptor it cant clear the intermediate pipe. time for the saw. You have to cut off part of the adaptor and part of the intermediated pipe. After that simply bolt on the new hanger and isolator and hang the exhaust centering it before tightning. The whole thing cost me like 150.00 with 120.00 of the cost being for the 79.00 muffler and the ridiculous 40.00 SLP shipping charge

As far as the t-top conversion, i've never seen a price quoted for the install, but i asume that the 325.00 price dosen't include the tops or the rails to hold them in the trunk.

i had the 3" 2001 ss/ws6 exhaust welded onto my 3.4 last week.....cost me $112 in parts and labor, plus what i paid for the exhaust setup, and they installed a high flow cat too i was happy with $112.....they just had to add a reducer and a clamp...2 welds to attach the 3 pieces it was shipped in...not a bad deal IMO....

i got the firebird tips . They ask on the order form what kind of car you have. You can specify, but i've heard they may send what they have in stock, so don't get your hopes up .

Also www.hanksthirdgenparts.com has take off SS and WS6 exhausts. They run 99.99 with out shipping, but i hate the tips they have. I like the SLP takeoffs muffler tips a lot better.
