Re: take off cat..good bad?

my cats out.

im guessing u have a 3.4? I do so this is how it is....

Pros:
1. About 1 - 2 mpg more
2. 10hp more, guy at the shop said a 10% increase which would be about 15 - 16hp, i doubt it
3. better airflow will run cooler... i have never seen my gauge above halfway (210° F) even in traffic with AC on

4. sounds better, more of a gurgley sound. you can hear it when u rev it. or going uphill in low RPMS

Cons:
1. exhaust really stinks
2. illegal in some states

^^^^ like he said I did it on my 98 3.8 and would recommend it if it is leagle in your state but you will need to plug in a O2 simulatro like in RK sport where you O2 sensor plugs into your cat

Re: take off cat..good bad?

<- no cat and no o2 sim..

w00p.

my SES light SAYS on lol but i took it to autozone and it threw 2 cat. codes .. and i dont have a cat, so i guess its nothing to worry ab

Why would i need to get a o2 sim? everyone is telling me my car will perform better, but i mean wouldnt it be the same except no SES light?

The computer takes data from all the the sensors to tell how much fuel the motor needs and how much air, etc. If you take away a sensor it's not gonna know what to do so it will run in a "safer mode" to prevent things from breaking. I noticed a difference when I got my o2 sim, car was running really rich before it for some reason.
