T-top conversions

Well, I just bought a 2000 camaro coupe a couple of weeks ago, and I was interested in the whole "T-top conversion idea". I was just wondering if anyone had any input on issues like prices, places to buy kits, and basically if it is a good idea or not. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!!

I really have been interested in the whole idea, and I was just wondering if it was all worth the trouble. Thanks a lot for your advice.

I didn't do the conversion, but I have t-tops. They are cool to have but they take a couple of minutes to take off and put in the hatchback. IMO its not really worth the hassle of taking them off for drives less then 30 min. But its really cool when they are off, and even when they are on people go "hey are those t-tops?"

i did the conversion. i spent less than $300 for the parts from a '99 camaro. i got everything off of ebay from www.hawksthirdgenparts.com

the only complaint i have is that i did not do it sooner.

i have them

I have had my car for three years. I think I have taken the t-tops off like 4 times. It is a hassel to get them off and store them, and I am always paranoyed leaving my car in a parking lot while they are off. Not worth it IMO.

Hey domestic how long have you had the conversion done on your car. Have there been any problems with leaking or what not. Also, has the road noise increased? I notice you live in TX...I am in Arlington, any chance you would consider doing mine for a price of course.

i would help, but i wouldn't be able to do it for you. i work 40+ hours a week and have 16 hours of college to contend with right now.

i have no leaks at all. i did at first, but i managed to fix it by bringing the channel on that corner down some. i've been in floods and no worries for me. road noise increase is hardly noticeable. i thought it would be more than what it is.

and i always have my tops out. it takes about 5 seconds to get them off and on. even with them on though, it's nice being able to lookup and see the sky.

Domestic how long did it take to do the conversion. Any price I can offer you to convince you to do the conversion on my car, or at least assist in it. I can't do it anytime soon, but maybe we could plan something out once school settles down a bit for the both of us. Phantom I live in Arlington and would be down with helping you with yours so I can get a feeling for my car. Let me know if you decide to do it.

i can help you do it, just let me know when. i live in mansfield and work in richland hills. now knowing how to do it, it shouldn't take more than a full day.

i wouldn't see spending more than $500 for everything.

i got lucky on mine...t-top kit for $142.50, weatherstripping for $40, and all the rest for about $50. i just kept checking ebay.

What kinda tools are needed to do this job, considering that some major cutting is envolved? Do you happen to have what is necessary to do this, as well as a garage? I'm basically offering to give you some cash to do alot of the major stuff for me since you've done it before, and to be honest I dont trust myself.
